Patisans question
You stop partisans from destroying your factories, railroads, etc by having a strong enough garrison, where do you go to see what the partisan strenght is at? Is there a way to kill them before they inflict damge? How do you control them? Don't they disperse once they inflict damge? Or do they steadily destroy your territory?
RE: Patisans question
Randell;
If you click on the icon at top that has the group of people standing together (two right of the tanks) you will see the national flags of all countries plus any areas that can/do have partisans. You will see two numbers. The first is how many partisans are in the area currently. The second is the number of garrisoning infantry/milita/armor/airborne units you have there. If the first is higher than the second (i.e. more partisans) there will be a chance for partisan activity at the end of the movement phase (you will see little explosions and yellow partisan figures)
The way to control partisans is to have garrison eqaul to the POPULATION resource of the country. That will mean you will NEVER have an increase in partisans. If the number of partisans goes way up before you can get a garrison there, you will need MORE THAN the population number to reduce it. So if there were 4 partisans in a 2 population area you would need four garrison there in one turn to meet the basic garrison requirement, and 2 more to quell the "extras" that had accumulated.
Hope that helps!
Mike

RE: Patisans question
The biggest "gottcha" is not putting a single supply per partisan active area per turn to "activate" units there for ntipartisan duties. I STILL forget sometimes and kick mysef for putting the guys there but not the supply. "Area supply" can help - but I have been burned by auto supply soi play in manual advanced supply mode against the AI.

RE: Patisans question
Thanks for the help, but every round when I check how many patisons vs garrison there is, the number goes up, example, it is 3/3 but then on the next turn it will be 4/3 and I have to waste another troop to protect my resources. I am spinning wheels here. i am losing my attacking force to sit in a territory so my resources arn't destroyed. In an answer above I was told that just put a garrison equal to the pop and the partisan activity doesn't go up. Where can I look to see the local pop for a country, when I put my mouse over a territory, correct?

Yes, hover over an area to see it's population factors. If it's 2 you need two units, only armour, inf, or militia will do, plus one supply. If you want to reduce area that has lots of partisans add more troops.

just to make sure.. so its one supply per AREA? or one supply per unit that is stationed there?

One per area.

This is to make sure that I am clear on the supply part of this.
I believe that the one supply can be taken either from the region in question or from an adjacent one. Since the partisan activity occurs on your turn, you don't ahve to worry about some enemy attack into an adjacent area using up the one supply that you had "set aside" for dealing with the partisans.

RE: Patisans question
I think for anti-partisan activity, the supply has to be in the actual area, not adjacent (unlike normal defensive supply). I'm not 100% sure of this, but think this is true. One supply per area fighting partisans. The supply is used up when you end your movement phase just before the production phase(this is when partisans that are not reduced to 0 can attack your infrastructure and supplies in the area).

I can't tell you how many times I've forgetten to keep supplies around for antipartison. I'll start repairing everything in sight and next thing I know, I'll have very little supply left (simple supply rules) and think to myself 'I hope I have enough for partisons'.

You may be right. The reason I think adjacent is good enough is Norway. I always take Norway and typically have 2 infantry plus a few other things there. This is enough to keep partisans down assuming supply.
The last thing I do before going into production phase is switch to supply view mode to make a few manual supply moves. I never send one to Norway, but the AI has always put a few on the transport that links Norway to Denmark. I do not end up with partisan problems in Norway.
But then again, I could be wrong.

If you have a problem using up so much supply there is not enough for anti-partisan, you can turn on the auto supply rule (check the game option screen). This rule will try to maintain at least one supply in each area where there is one inf/militia/para and where there are partisans.

Jorgen, isn't that Area Supply?

That is what I thought too, and the tooltip in the game seems to indicate so as well. However, upon reading p91 in the manual it indicates otherwise and I went with that.
Since you confirm my first idea as well, it get the impression this must be an error in the manual. The concept explained for Area supply is really Auto supply and vice versa in section 10.7
