Freeze then error........

Post by Rattlehead2005 »

My problem is this....

5 times now i get this damn error, that freezes game, then goes black screen, and eventually i get a microsoft error saying WaWexe. has encountered an error and need to close. This has happened 5 times when i get past 1945, with auto victory turned off, and no end date set. 3 times before patch and twice now since patch. I have a DXDiag file, so if u need that info, who do i send it to?(i'd rather not post it). The first time i got this kind of crash was the 64 Unit bug. So i turned off the animations, and it still happened after 1945. I read something about the patch fixing some crash after 1945,that some individual had happen. Well he wasnt the only one, i just let it go once i saw that this was fixed. But it has happened twice now since patch, and 3 times before.

If you have a save game for this that I can load and run and see the error (i.e. it duplicates every time), please send it to Erik and to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

Joel,

Unfortuanetly i don't[:(] This error occured during "my" turn, and not Computers. It did happen twice during Computers turn before, but since then, it has been during "my" turn. I play with autosave turned off, and usually jus save every 5 turns.

Another question i was wondering......
As im not a Computer expert, i was curious as why this game uses so much CPU mem. use? When game is in Full mode it says like 105k mem, but when its in Wiindowed mode, it lists CPU at 1k. Would this have anything to do with why games crash for me late into the game(meaning 1945+)?? Jus curious....

Thnx.......

I'm not sure what you mean about the memory comparison. Maybe Erik can answer that. All I know is that according to Keith (the technical programmer) the graphics in GGWaW suck up a ton of memory.

No response in e-mail yet, where can i go(for free) to upload my DXDiag report? Also i managed to restart the scenario, a lil before error, and saved 1 turn before it. So i have the saved game........

Also in reference to my other question of mem. I was talking about, in task manager, in
process...under image name...waw.exe......mem usage. In regualr mode its higher then if in windowed mode.

the reason why I asked about your RAM (in the other thread) is that when I look at RAM usage in task manager around '45 or after its about 600 mb. So you should try running windowed 16 bit mode and make sure all programs all closed before playing WaW, then see how far you can get. Also take a look at the RAM usage periodically to see if it is approaching 512.
