Production in WIR3

Post by ladner »

Have just resumed playing WIR3 after a long hiatus from the game. Have some observations regarding the availability date listed when generating a report (believe this is done byALT-R) noticed that the availability for Stug IIIG is 12/41; however, with AI controlling factories these were not produced until May of '42. Had similar delays with Marder II,III and Pz-IVG. Oddly the He-177 started production right on schedule with the date listed in the report. Another item, I vaguely recall from the old WIR or perhaps even Second Front were Pz-IIs,Pz-IIIs and Pz-38s would be converted to Marder/Stug/Hetzer as appropirate to simulate historical conversion of older chasis to useful equipment. Is this in fact true in WIR3?

Are there any negative consequences on production if high replacement levels are set in order to provide abundant OPs for front-line HQs?

Wellcome Greg!
Dates in the report file generated by Alt-R are wrong. Look in scenario file by using editwir.exe.

No. You can set any replacement level and it should not affect production.

Mist-thank you for the reply you are most informative . Especially the notes by Arnnaud, which answered my question concerning chasis conversion. After further reading upon the forum I decided to experiment with research and developement. It seemed that modifing the introduction date of PzKpf IVh had a marked impact on the game in that almost all of the panzer battalions were equiped with long barrel 75mm tanks by late 1942. However, conversion of several factories to Me-262 did not effect introduction of the aircraft into service. Is there any way using the editor to determine if research has moved up the introduction date for a particular type of aircraft? I know from reading the forum that you are frequently involved with modifying WIR3, to which I thank you for your efforts for it has resulted in an enjoyable game!

There is a change, but its a small one. With one factory set to the 262, I ran a game to March/April '42. The availability of the 262 was reduced by only one turn.

Use editwir to see this. Save the game, then load it into editwir, go to "(A)ircraft type", then go to the Me262 and look at the "Available" line close to the bottom and read the turn of arrival. Normally it is 160 (at least in the latest available obwir I have).
