AI Turn Length & Time Limits

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

AI Turn Length & Time Limits

Post by CushVA »

Just curious, how long do AI turns take, on both the Strategic (Big map) and Tactical (battles) levels? I understand that with large battles, it might take a bit longer.

Also, are the time limits for battles? Or do they only end when one side has lost/retreated/surrendered?

On the 2GHz machines the AI turns are very fast: maybe two or three seconds for all the AI nations.

On the ~300MHz machine I tested it on a few days ago the AI strategic turns were about 4-5 seconds per nation.

In our tactical battles, players move one unit at a time. There's no discernible AI delay before each unit moves.

Battles end when one side has either voluntarily sounded the retreat or has suffered a general morale collapse and is forced to sound the retreat. Attacker morale slowly decreases and so the attacker will eventually (after several simulated days...) be forced to retreat if there is no fighting.
