To the Bitter End, Japanese side (sveint vs Andy)

Post by sveint »

September 1942

The world is at war. In Europe, Germany controls most of the continent and is rapidly approaching the Kaukasus. In Asia, Japan has struck out in the course of nine months taken control of exterior China, Burma, Malaya, the East Indies, the Phillipines and New Guinea.

Let's start with a look at Japanese resources and production.

With the capture of Chinese and island resources and oil, Japan currently has no shortages and as long as we can hold on to the current territory we should have no problems. We did run short of fighter aircraft but production has been increased as can be seen here.

Aircraft losses - it has been especially hard on our fighter aircraft.

China and Burma

China has been largely pacified. It cost alot of aircraft but resource production in both Chunking and Kunming has been hit hard. I don't expect any offensive operations out of China for the duration of the war, but sufficent garrisons have been left in place just in case.

In Burma I am completely stalled. Allied heavy bombers completely rule the skies and the roads are insufficient for bringing forward supplies. The divisions here were brought from China - I will pull them back on the defensive. I am also bringing up AA regiments, but judging from past experience they will be largely ineffective.

The Fleet

The IJN just went through upgrades in Singapore and should be ready to sail in a day or two. The CV Shokaku is repairing in Tokyo (13 sys damage) and also needs an upgrade. Four battleships and four heavy cruisers are also repairing in home ports.

Ships sunk

Almost forgot this. Japan has lost 3 battleships in a pointless battle for Rangoon (the British lost 3 too). One Allied carrier group with cruiser escorts were sunk in the Indian ocean. Pearl Harbor was a failure with no ships sunk.

Furthermore the Allies have lost ALOT of shipping, of course they probably still have more than they can use.

The Frontlines

Northern Australia has been invaded. My main army is approaching Derby while the Allied armies in the east near Darwin seem to be uncertain wether they want to advance or retreat.

So is your opponent allowed to read this thread, or can you speak freely? If the latter, I'm curious how big a "garrison" you've left in China -- or, more precisely, how many (if any) divisions you've taken out of China to fight elsewhere. I'm also curious just how you "pacified" China. It's one theater that still mystifies me.

I have 3000 assault point in the north near Siam and 2200 assault points near Changsa. With the railroad either of these groups can support each other. I also have Ki-48 Lily bombers based in China.

Around 12 divisions (and all my heavy flak) has been sent to Burma - their job is to make sure no supplies enter China that way. Secondary objective is to make sure the British stay in India and don't try any adventurism.

Assault on Darwin starts. I think it will hold (barely)... one mixed bridge is unloading now and 2 more should arrive tomorrow. A full division is north of Timor. I also assume his troops should be disrupted by now. A day or two more and the trap should close.

A glorious day! Darwin holds and has forts back up to level one and Derby is headed for a fall. The strategic situation is now right where I want it... instead of pulling back his troops and digging in, he is tiring them in Northern Australia.

Someone tell Andy to strike the word 'Northern' in the title of his AAR! [;)]
