Did we really need to start another 1.5 thread?

In reply to Mr Frag on a new l.5 thread. In my humble opinion the answer is Yes. Since we have all payed a good amount of money for this game, and since most are waiting for 1.5 before they start some serious gaming, in addition, as far as I can see the last thread on this topic was on 2-22-05, which last question dated 3-5-05 went unanswered on the thread Therefore, it has been almost 2 months, without much info concerning the release of the patch. I am not being facitious, nor being nasty. I just feel that we, the consumers, are entitled to some updates on a subject that most of us are waiting most diligently for. Instead of the answer given, wouldn't the right thing to say have been an update on this in conjunction with the comment that was made? Since the answer was not given, I shall ask again, what is the status on version 1.5? Is there a target date for the upgrade?

I don't know where you got your dates from. I was gone all weekend and when I came back, there were 65 notifications from the forums. At LEAST 6 of the threads marked had inquiries about the patch. It might facilitate expedition of the patch if folks would just be patient with them and stop asking about it. A few new bugs have been reported the last couple of days and they are probably wanting to get these in the patch since it isn't released yet. Makes sense to me anyway.

I likes my game...I plays my game...I patches my game when the patches arrive...I plays my game some more...I likes my game.

Hello...

Not moderator, but have some insight into this. So, will answer. Finished UV patch. One difficult bug left on WIP patch (Zeke production/replacement issue). About 30 items left on War Plan Orange. Now spending 75% time on new Eastern Front game.

Hope to be done with WIP patch by Friday.

Bye...

Michael Wood

As it was a difficult bug and there's been no word, I suspect that Mike didn't finish on Friday. Even if he did, there's still final testing, making the installer, etc. which could add around another week. I have no inside information at all, but if someone was running a book, I'd put a few bob on "before the end of April". Wonder what the odds are for that?

rogueusmc, tks for the reply, appreciate the insight of the question. My info comes from looking thru this forum and in reading a specific thread labled Version 1.5, with the lst post dated 2-26-05. As this is the only thread specifically mentioning 1.5 back to that date, that is what I'm referring to. As to other posts on the subject in other threads I apoligize in that regard. However,i don't read every thread only those that I take an interest in, so more then likely I wouldn't have seen those posts. But, in all fairness, since there was a 1.5 thread, thats where most people would go to look for their information and not in other threads not specfically labeled 1.5. Since there was a thread for 1.5, I would have assumed that this is where the information would have been updated. Since no other posts were made there since 3-5-05, I asked the question. If there were problems with the patch or whatever, I would have thought it would behove everyone, if they were kept up to date once in awhile, on the expectations of the patch in this specific thread labled version 1.5, instead of other threads. By posting in this thread it would eliminate all those other posts and questions throught out the forum and keep everything limited to this one thread. At the same time everyone would be kept abreast of what is transpiring with 1.5. I've been a gamer for a long time, and I too don't want to see anything rushed thru and appreciate the time it takes to get it right. But I do think the forum members should be kept up to date on patches under construction. A simple sentance or two would suffice. A large number of players are putting off playing pbem games waiting for the new version. So what is so difficult with an update once in awhile? Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not being mean, nasty, slamming or anything else, just looking for some answers. If its not ready to be released yet then fine, no problem, just put out an update once in awhile for everyones benefit and put it in a proper designated thread.

Don't know about much about the battle of Bathroom Run (was it US Civil War as well?), but I fired up Civil War Bull Run for the first time last night and had some run. [:D]

I am an Electronic Engineer who often is required to troubleshoot both hardware and software problems. I am very often asked by the customer can I tell them how long will it take or can I give them an update on status… generally the answer is no. Not because I am ignoring their concerns, but simply because I do not know. Problems/Bugs have this annoying tendency to being harder to track down than to fix... unless of course you have that bug that just won’t be squashed. The best they could do is give some generalized date, unless everything is ready. IMO

I will give odds it is out before the end of the year… not good odds, but odds. [;)]

Bodhi, well, I'm not quite as old as the Civil War ([;)]) even tho some of my friends on other forums would argue that point [X(], When you get around my age, the bathroom wars seem to pick up in frequency and intesity and usually at inopertune times [8|] Tho the civil war period is one of my favorite time frames (I'm a civil war buff) the lack of the proper facilities and paper (no sears catalogues) would have made for a very running process [:D]

C.M. I understand concerning time frames or giving exact dates. I'm not asking for that, just an update once in awhile to let us know its coming along. Call it gun shy if you want, probably due to the fact that some game companies (Blizzard comes to mind) tell everyone patch is being worked on or it'll be released soon and then nothing and everyone left out to dry. I'm not saying this about Matrix, Please don't misunderstand, I own a number of their games and they've always tried to help when I've had a prob lem or 2 or 3 or 4 [:D] They've been very helpful to me over the years and usually answered me within 1-2 days. Its just nice to see an update posted to relieve eveyone's anxiety. I thank both of you for responding and the brewskis are on me, (if your not old enough then sassperella [;)] (we can put it on Mr Frag's tab [:)]

Mac5732, The Patch will be out when it is out, [:D]
They are doing work, they are fixing bugs, one I submitted I had mail back on was found and I assume fix in (was where after took noumea, disbanding ships in base next turn Allied computer was making use with my Jaanese ships..) Theres been posts asking for more saves on one particular bug, so their close to putting patch out, woudn't you prefer a week or two more wait for them to pin down the bug then them issue 1.5 and leave it to be fixed in 1.6 (if in fact there will be any after 1.5?)

Cmdrcain, sigh, if you would re-read my posts, you will see that I'm in agreement about taking time and getting things right.[:)] I really have no problem with that at all, All I am requesting is some updates once in awhile in a specific thread for updates. That is all, nothing more. When an update is being made its just nice to let everyone know once in awhile hows it going along. This would solve the problems of continuous questions, posts etc concerning the next update. I agree not to rush into a release when its not ready. I've never stated otherwise. I have yet to see a game or a patch that didn't have a glitch or bug. Thats normal in computer games. Your probably most right that there will be a patch 1.6, and that to is normal

I must not be explaining myself right or something here, as it appears members think I'm yelling for the release of 1.5, when that is not in fact the case. I apoligize for any misunderstandings in this regard. Once again, plain and simple for those of you who misunderstand. All I'm requesting is periodic updates concerning the patch, nothing more, nothing less. sigh, maybe its my senility showing up again[:)]

I know it's against the gaming industry catechism, but what if they did the beta testing with beta testers instead of consumers. I find its always best to wait about 6 months after Matrix releases a game to purchase it. That way the patches that are released make it mostly right.
Having attacked the catechism, I can't wait to read the responses of the faithful----or---maybe even excommnication!!!! Fire away!

I log on everyday looking for any new information on patch availability. I usually have to spend time hunting for the appropriate thread. I'd like to see a thread permanently embedded in the top section of the forum even if it only says "no new information on patch update since mm/dd/yy.

In other words I agree with mac5732
