Some additional errors (IMHO)

Post by moi »

Hello,

1. Scenario 1941 (obwir)
Armor unit in slot 580 (163/163 soviet tank regiment) included in 1 soviet tank division,
but from its name and structure of soviet tank division/corps I can make conclusion that
it must be include in 163 Soviet motorized division.
Similarly, armor units in slots 581-585, 587-595 - also must be in motorized division
with correspondense to this names.
May be this was made specially but I don't know.

2. Scenario 1944 (obbag)
Armor units in slots 58-62, 64, 69, 70, 194, 196, 201, 206, 207, 209, 216, 220, 221, 224, 225...
(503-507, 509, 12, 16, 138, 202 germ.pz bat, 512, 561, 525, 605 germ PZJg bat...) total 27 units
will be born in RVGK (Soviet)

Armor units in slots 609-619, 659-662 (510-520 soviet tank brigade, 10-13 soviet heavy tank regiment)
will be born in OKH (German)

And almost all soviet independent artillery, AT, flak units so.

But there is no error because of all this units will be born after end of the game.

3. USSR was prodused only 100 Mig-1, but in game (1941) I have 160 in airgroups and 700 in pool. I think, this is error

Sorry for my terrible english

Hello Moi,

On the tank unit issue, you hit the situation right on the head. The problem is the way the game handles division changes in a hard coded method without taking into account a lot of things. These motorized divisions contained tank units on June 22, and their tanks should be represented, which they were not in the original 1941 campaign that shipped with the game. However, at some point these motorized divisions convert to infantry divisions. It does not make sense to keep these tanks in that case. Thus, to try and make it work, I created the motorized division tank units using the odd designations you saw, but assigned the tank units to tank divisions that were in the same corps on June 22. It looks weird and is not really correct in anyway, but at least it gets the historical tanks on map when they should be.

I did a similar thing with the Panzer divisions on June 22. Historically, they only had 2-3 tank battalions on June 22 with anywhere from 3-4 tank types present. Since the game only allows 1 tank type per battalion, the original scenario moved tanks around between divisions while keeping the correct structure for the divisions (I think). I wanted each division to more closely show what tanks it had, so I created new tank battalions for most of the divisions to show what what numbers of tanks of each type that they had. This one is more of a problem as I don't know how well the tank replacement process works with all these extra tank units. Frequently they drop to almost 0 tanks and I don't know if they grow if there are a surplus of tanks in the pools or not. However, this is okay as by 1943 the Germans were generally just using 2 tank types for the balance of the war, so it may work out fine.

Hello,

I think, representation this units as independent units will be more correct. After reorganization in 1941,
Red Army was had many independent brigades, regiments and battalion (much more than 20 brigades and 13 regiments in game).

On 1.01.1945 in Red Army vs Germany was 22 (+2 in RVGK and inner military district) tank corps, 12 (+2) mech corps (from this 8 tk abd 6 mk was merge in 6 tank army), 25 (+40) ind. tank brigades, 2 (+3) ind. mech. brigades, 55 (+5) ind. tank regiment (http://www.russ.ru/forums-new/war-ist/m ... 10619.html)

Don't worry about your English. I bet there aren't many if any Americans on this site who can speak a single word of Russian other than Yes or No. Don't even think any of us can write Russian.
