It was ready a week ago to release, but ....
at the very last moment we found TERRIBLE BUG which always lived in game and allowed Soviet AI to place its armies into west Germany and even capture German cities! Now Arnaud had just reported that "the bug is squashed"(AI routine is realy complicated, you know) and we take *final* testing. So, hold your breath. It will appear real soon if ... nothing else terrible will be found <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Judge Dredd? My boyhood hero! Really, I'm flattered, but I'm not at his level yet.

Here is something I would like to see for the new version.

A new color for the Russian units. Right now they are dark orange, same as Italian, hungaria etc....
I remember in older version the Russian units where white with red border.

Plus I would like to see a new symbol for a shock army, again, in the older version the shock army had different symbol. The same thing as a tank army, but with an X across the oval (something close to that, it's been a while).

That's it, I know it does not add to game play or anything but I find it much easier to tell apart Romanians from Russains. And I like too see which unit is a schock army just from looking at it, without clicking on it. Just like the previous version.

Keep up the good work, thanx in advance!

All you need to do is to get the "wires.sym" from the old version (1.13 or so; pre-Matrix) distribution, to get the old look and feel. This file is what controls all these things.

Hopefully, we'll get the old version included as part of the standard distribution sometime soon to allow players to chose which style they want.

If you don't have this file, just let me know.

I believe the old icons are still present in the current download. At least on my install, I have a file called wires.sym.orig, that I assume came with the download from Matrix, and has the old release files date on it. You would just replace the wires.sym file by renaming this other one, and I believe you will get the old symbols. I just tried it and it worked, so as long as the file came with the download, which I believe it did, you can switch.
