does invasion of Canada unfreeze USA?

Post by WanderingHead »

Certainly it should, but I don't find it in the rule book.

Could be a rule bug that helps the Invasion USA strategy. The Monroe doctrine would suggest anything in the Western Hemisphere kicks the USA into the war.

I'd like to see anyone try this strategy in a PBEM - I just don't see how its possible (and believe me, I've just about seen or tried them all). With 0 supply help & 0 transport help, I just don't see this being any kind of viable strategy.

ok......when time passes and you get more familiar to this game,i think you'll change your mind.it's really easy,at least when facing the computer.when facing human players this may not help you to contorl the world becasue you can't make sure that it will work under any circumstances, that depends on your opponents, too.but you can delay them.it's really tough for USA to take you out of the land.you can do the bushfighting or go back to canada to wait for other chance.it should cost the USA at least about a year to take you out i think.the consumption for repairing the factories and resources can gain you lots of time to catch your breath and relieve the pressure of WA's fleet.so think of it.

As a beta tester, I'd like to think I'm already pretty familiar with this game. I don't believe that this would be any kind of viable strategy against a human player. Unless England is sitting around doing nothing, there isn't a chance in the world that Germany is going to have enough transports to make this happen, ever.

i can't say this will work at any circumstance.i mean i don't have enough evidence. but you can't say it is impossible, either.just like you guys mocked me for my pursuing a total vicotory over computer as axis.but now i made it.i talked like a conqueror, lol.
IMHO,why don't you find the strategy as a tester?

Maybe, yet USA should unfreeze as soon as any Axis land unit is sailing on the Atlantic [:'(]. At least it should unfreeze whenever any American or Caribbean nation/region is attacked.
Else you have possible gamey tactics as Schury did, invading "surprisingly" the northern US through Canada.
Note that US unfreezing would not really even prevent it, but at least you'll have to do everything in 1 turn [8|] !

I agree that US should unfreeze with Canadian invasion..AND probably certain other South American countries. There is no way in hell the US would have ignored an invasion of either country as "fighting in Europe that doesn't involve us". The frozen sea zones I think should prevent Mexican invasion with US remaining frozen, but what if you invade South America via unfrozen, neutral sea zones & get 10 units adjacent to the Panama canal in Columbia?

Similarly, all of the eastern USSR regions should unfreeze with any attack on any single eastern USSR region (currently it doesn't do that, giving you ridiculous advantages with the surprise rule as you swallow it piecemeal at your leisure).

Agree. Any invasion of the Western Hemisphere would have been contrary to the Monroe Doctrine and would have garnered a direct reaction. I think unfreezing is appropriate.
