Bombers Over China

Post by 5cats »

Two Japanese bombers ended their turn over two Chinese porvinces. Their combat was not resolved by the AI Japanese.
On China (played by me) turn, therre they were! I "attacked" them, got militia created & the bombers fled.
Here's the save, unfortunatly I did both combats [:@] like a goof! Perhaps there's a way you can still see it. I can kinda see it on the turn replay...

Ummm, how do you upload a save??
I'll e-mail it.

That probably means the AI set those bombers on CAP: leaving air units above sea or unfriendly land provinces without enemy air present.

In this case (and this has happened to me as well when playing China), it basically means the AI giving away a present.

Not a bug in the game, possibly a bug in AI behaviour.

Just my guess; the devs might have a better explanation.

The bug is militia should not be generated if only enemy air units are in the combat. Flying patrol over an enemy area is legal if no enemy air in the area.

Aaaah, I didn't think of that, CAP... but there were troops present in 1 province, don't think you can CAP in that case. Also both showed up as unresolved battles on my turn, which generated the militia.
Yeah it's really strange AI behaviour, seeing as how the provinces were not even bordering Japanese forces.
