I visited the place a while back, quiet weird to think that such a great and skilled Japanese tacitian has also been there. [;)]

You would sooner die from boredom, than from Japanese bullet in that thing. [:D]
Doing some 12+ hours of escorting slow bombers and maybe a few intense minutes of combat.

I would much rather be in a cockpit of a Jug, I read somewhere that once you apply full throttle & go for a dive, the nose would try to escape from the rest of the airframe. Kinda reminds of my ex-Suzuki Swift GTi. [:D]

Great AAR btw, I jumped in late, and forced myself to read all previous pages. Whew. [:)]

Nice to hear from you Calidor, impressive that you have read through all of the pages...that must have taken
quite some time! Thx for the kind words...

Never considered flying long range escort missions in a P-51 - runway sweeper class 1 was a frequent classification
in Blue Max!-) They also had a Jug at Hendon, great big brute!

Several of my divisions in India have been rested, but it takes a long time to get replacements for
80 damaged mortars in a single division [8|] I will let the units rest for another week and then load up for
Colombo and Java. 2 divisions will soon start to wipe out the Allied units that are stuck outside of Karachi.

I hate it when my Betties goes after TFs around PM. A shame that you can't make

Situation Report

I'm loading up a few TF's at Karachi and preparing to invade Colombo. Got to get rid
of that place, my ships are forced to take a long detour around it.

The following units will take part in the attack. (The troops will unload at Trimcomalee and
march into Colombo)

When this base has been eliminated additional divisions will load up at Karachi and move towards Singapore - Java and Timor.
These operations will continue throughout the year and first in early 43 will it be possible to concentrate the Fleet in the Central
Pacific again.

David is complaining that he has become a little lax after being away from the
game for a week! He made a rather costly little blunder today when he sent
4 destroyer minelayers into Munda unsercorted.

A bombardment group under Tanaka swept in an sank the entire party without
much ado [8D] Oh how I love to sink enemy minelayers...especially DM's!

The invasion force has set sail towards Trimcomalee! Was contemplating to move troops
to Singapore as well, but I'd like to give them another week of R&R first.

Occupation troops have now been dispersed through northern India. For now there
are 5 full divisions there, this may be cut down to 4 as I wish to move one to Burma.

Most of my carriers are supposed to be having a refit, but it's really difficult to find time
for this. Will find time in early 43, but only 2 cv's will be upgraded at the same time so
that the KB will remain intact. In little more than a month I receive another light carrier
and a cve. The Musashi is not far of either and even the Taiho is getting ready for sea trials [:)]

much. I will move the Army bombers in India to Burma as soon as Colombo

Situation Map: Marshalls and Gilberts

Most of the bases are well developed. Kwajalein got 9 forts while Maleolap got 8.
The TF's that are visible in the picture are mostly minelayers and small transports.
Kwajalein works like a hub that is supporting the surrounding bases.

I need more Zeros and bombers in the region - they're currently undertaking
advanced training in China.

I got a sub that should have arrived at Hiroshima/Kure several days ago..it still got '1 days remaining'!?
Anyone know the reason for this? All my other ship constructions are proceeding according to schedule and there
are 5 spare naval construction points left.

I hope there's no enemy SigInt in this thread, or else this operation would be FUBAR'd. [:)]

This will be a classic example of diversion, distraction, destruction tactic. Seeing that David has quite a number of heavy bombers in Gilberts region, I suppose those bases are quite developed and well supplied. In other words, ripe for picking, while you still can.
I think that you shouldn't be satisfied with holding India and liberating Java again, as this doesn't give you much of a defensive perimeter. So go ahead and undertake another major, decisive operation before he gets too strong in half a year or so.
Gilberts are logical choice. Close to your well developed bases, yet far from his. Additionaly, his forces are tied up in Java and Solomons, also I guess he has considerable forces in Northern Oz, just to be sure.

So what I would suggest is this:
Divide your carriers in two groups - in one, smaller, put some carriers that were originally in KB - Akagi, Kaga or Shokaku for example, plus a few others, just to be safe from his carriers. Send this one in Java area. Put all others in second TF and send them to Marshalls.
Simultaneosly with commencing land operations on Java, go for a walk with your Java carriers just off North-western Oz. Assign some Vals & Kates to naval search, so he knows what's there. Let him think you'll hit his Oz bases or support Java operations. This will gain you 2 advantages - he will be reluctant to send reinforcements to Java, and also make him anxious about your carriers' moves as he'd probably think KB has come to play.
Wait a few days for him to react, than swing the katana full force on Gilberts - send in your second, larger carrier TF at flank speed from Marshalls area, moving at 10-12 hexes per turn, so he'll never knew what hit him. Unleash all your force on largest airfield, probably Tarawa. Put it out of action, then move on to another. Support them with LBA from Marshalls. If you spot his carriers, and there's a good probability you will, make them priority targets. After you give his local airforce some justice, move in with bombardment TFs. You just got Yamato, so put those 18" in action. Stay a while and reduce his LCUs combat power, and then, after a week or so from operation's start, go in with invasion TF. You should capture quite a pile of supplies/fuel, and destroy a sizeable chunk of his heavies. I presume he would also base some P38s there, so sending them to Sto'vo'Kor wouldn't hurt, too. Being exposed bases that they are, he almost certanly has some surface forces there, maybe a BB or two, so giving your Kates some torpedo practice would be nice.

In terms of LCUs, this shouldn't be costly, so your main force can still concentrate on Java and beyond. And with some veteran divisions from India, US troops on Java should become mosquito-food fairly quickly.

Also, if you don't achieve an autovictory by 01/43, or you agree to continue playing, dealing a blow in CenPac will give you big advantage in coming months.

So...whatcha think? I see this as a perfectly devious plan, spot-on with Japanse tactics and general doctrine. [:D]
