Click the Halt button on the panel for that particular factory.

Turning Factories off

Becareful, it's a real bitch trying to find factories that have been shut off. The only way to do it is to cycle through each and every one.

WITP - really needs a factory summary sceen for production to show the status and total output of factories.

I think what he meant was how do you set it so as japan you dont have to manage production if you dont want it. It implies in the manual that it is optional whether or not to control your production..... spent some time lookin for this toggle the book said was there but did not find it myself i suspect it is not possiable to do this?

If you do not want to manage production as the jap, just leave it alone as it is. I must warn you, that this is only a feaseble option agains the AI.

In a PBEM game a you NEED al the advantage you can get over the allies..........
In vinum illic est sapientia , in matera illic est vires , in aqua illic es bacteria.

In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is strength, in water there are bacteria.

Be aware: this is only an option for the Japanese, not Allies.

I don't want to halt production I just want the computer to manage the production for me because the production system seems complicated to me. How can I tell if a factory needs to expand or not without ruining the whole economy?

There is no grand campaign without production. If you want that, you'll have to play the smaller scenarios which are of a more limited scope where production does not play a major impact.

There are some tools on Spook'ys site (http://mathubert.free.fr/) that can help with 1.4 production. For 1.5, that's a whole new ballgame....

Against the AI, you can just leave production be if you wish, for a while anyway. At the very least, I'd suggest halting production of a few things, such as the Nate.
