question

Post by Roller56 »

after I modify a Database for a scenerio, and then save it in an open slot. I run the game and choose that scenerio. When the game loads all the bases are blank, ships that are not in port are gone, and icons have gone as well. Am I doing something wrong in saving? I never had this problem with Uncommon Valor, so it is new to me.

There are two editor parts to creating a scenario.
1. The database editor to change ships, air groups, etc.
2. The scenario editor which defines the parameters of the scenario like map size, game length, etc
Both need to be run and saved in the same slot location (###).

It sounds like you have done part 1 and not part 2.
There should be a file in the SCEN directory called cam###.dat (IIRC), in addition to the standard file (wp?###.dat).

thank you, but now I tried to open the same file in the scenerio editor to do what was suggested, and it says the it can not open the Aircraft data file and closes on me. Sigh :)

and the funny thing is I never changed any of the aircraft data

Hi
When modding you have to open 1st the database editor ie scen 15 mod it then save to a different slot
then open Scenario editor [same scen as before] ie scen 15 then save to the same slot you saved the modded scen - clear as mud?

First rule: (if will keep you out of trouble)

Load scenario with scenario editor. Immediately do a save as and pick slot # greater then 25

quit

Load scenario with database editor. Immediately do a save as and pick the same slot #

quit

NOW you can start screwing around all you want with this new scenario
