Movement Question

Post by siRkid »

I've seen the AI move a unit stright backwards without changing facing. How is it doing that? Reserve Move?

A unit will move backward without changing facing in the following situations:

1. A retreat order was issued: Unit will move as far as it can directly backward until the final (reserve) phase and then turn 180. So you might see a unit retreating directly backward into the fog of war... but he will turn 180 at the very end of the movement.

2. A pushback. A unit that is pushed back in combat will move 'backward' without changing facing.

Hopefully, you saw one of these two situations [:)]

Actually I trained my legions to moonwalk...

Just kidding, couldn't resist that one :-) (And no MJ jokes)

I've been watching very close and I think it was routed units.

If you give a retreat order, will it break the unit?

Nope! I use retreat in my strategy to lure the enemy. I call it the 'rope-a-dope'.

Great. It just so happens I need to order a retreat at the momnet.
