Witpchk Question & Request

Post by pad152 »

1. Wiptchk Question - What does this mean?

Location ID:1200 (Canton Base Force) - changes in 0 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (JAPANESE HQs/1)

2. Wiptchk Request.
A check to verify that land units are attached to a valid HQ command.

WITPCHK has been run on CHS and is the source of many of the items in the Change List. But the changes for the Japanese Land Units have not been made as WITPCHK pointed out a variation between some land units and their TOE that requires a major review.

Having said that, I believe this is an error and I will fix it - there are a few others. For land units the Port and Airfield is used to indicate a pre-planned change of HQ - the port gives the number of months until the change and the airfield gives the change-to HQ. It appears that Canton Base Force (and others) have a 0-port, 1-airfield - an obvious error that I will correct.

Note however that there are times when the assignment to a non-command organization is intentional. A command organization is the first few on the Japanese and Allied HQ list and may have special features that are inherited by the land units assigned to the HQ. All other HQs (Corps, Group, Force, etc) are not command organizations - they merely provide HQ benefits. In some cases we have assigned units to these non-command HQs. 4th Marines to Asiatic Fleet is an example.

Thanks

OK - here are the HQ changes picked up by WITHCHK. Most are valid - I will fix the other two (by clearing the Airfield Value):

Location ID:1074 (Ryojun Base Force) - changes in 0 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (JAPANESE HQs/1)
Location ID:1176 (17th Division) - changes in 15 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (8th Area/11)
Location ID:1204 (Canton Base Force) - changes in 0 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (JAPANESE HQs/1)
Location ID:1261 (41st Division) - changes in 12 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (8th Area/11)
Location ID:1357 (14th Division) - changes in 24 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (2nd Area/10)
Location ID:1395 (65th Brigade) - changes in 9 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (8th Area/11)
Location ID:1435 (8th Tank Regiment) - changes in 10 months to a non-Command Organisation HQ (8th Area/11)

Hi
I thought it already reported on units attached to non-command HQs

Could you give me an example of where it does not?

Michael

WITPCHK does indeed correctly report non-command HQs. I just failed to fix one or two!
