Scenario Questions

Post by CBase »

As on owner of Uncommon Valor, I am interested in getting War in the Pacific. But it is highly unlikely I will ever have the time to play the full campaign. However, I may have time play some of the shorter scenarios. So, my questions are:

Does it make sense to purchase WITP for the scenarios or should I just stick with UV?

Are there enough enhancements in WITP to make it a better game than UV?

Is there any place I can find a list of the scenarios available in WITP (along with the beginning and ending dates)?

Thanks.

The enhancements are worth it alone. The UV scenerio 16? is included in the game. Just the reduction in fatuige of fighter groups on regular cap is worth it to me.

Personally, i found UV so buggy that i could not run it more than a few minutes without a crash.

WITP is much better game for numerous reasons - if nothing else, it is pretty stable, much more than UV.

I would recommend it.

I don't have a list of scenarios handy right now... sorry.[:(]

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

While I prefer the scale of UV to WITP, there are many improvements to the game that make WITP worthwhile. As well, there are smaller scenarios in other areas of the map that make the purchase worhtwhile.

BTW, have they fixed that last patch in UV that gave us Coastwatcher reports from mid-ocean? I was amused by the fact that the Australian yachties were out in force all over the Pacific...

You won't regret the decision. However, I'll warn you. I bought it with the intention of playing mainly the smaller scenarios, but the siren call of the grand campaign is hard to resist. If you start it as the allies, it really isn't that much more involved than the big campaigns in UV.

I have no doubt the full campaign will be tempting, but lets say it takes at least 30 minutes per turn when playing as the US. That means the full game will take more than 300 hours (assuming I play with each turn representing 2 days). That means I will have to decide between my marriage and the game...

It would be a lot easier choice if the computer could cook and do laundry!!![:D]
