Russo German War

Post by g00dd0ggy »

As you may know, Schwerpunkt games recently published this title and I wanted to know if anyone else on this board has it.

It is a div/bde level Eastern Front sim, cery much hard core board wargame converted to computer, but it is fun - it reminds me alot of Fire in the East by GDW.

I'd like to try a campaign - but first maybe play a scenario or two. A campaign would need 4 players I think (the game is enormous).....

Any one?

I got my copy on Sept 18, and while the game is still somewhat buggy, overall it's the best PC Eastern Front campaign game presently in existence. If you're not already a member of the wargamer forums, go over there and sign up. You shouldn't have any problems finding PBEM participants. I don't have time to do it, though. BTW, patch 1.2 should take care of the worst problems, but there will be a version 2.0 sometime next year.

I have it and really is very interesting. There are now too much bugs in the game to do a PBEM I think until patch v.1.2 be released.

Isn't it sad that you now routinely have to wait 1 or 2 months after a game is released before buying it because its too buggy on the initial release?

I hope Matrix doesn't end up acting like all the rest. If they have to they should just stop telling the gamers when they think a game is going to be released, until the final touches are put on the game before kicking it out the door. Just say "when its ready", Matrix, and save yourself some grief.

I have got it too, and it is really an excellent game. And very challenging against the AI. My best score until now is B-. You 51 scenari's and a lot of fun in vieuw. But for the PBEM, it seem to me impossible for a long campaign, you have to send something to 4 or 6 Email/Turn.

Buy it, it worth every bucks you will spend for it.

I purchased the game week before last, and have tried a few scenarios, along with trying to create a new scenario based on scenario 51 using the scenario editor.

First impressions are that it is probably not of merchantable quality at this stage, and should have been held back to improve and fix it, and to thoroughly check and test the OOB's. The scrolling of the map especially when in scenario 51 is absolutely woeful, with it been jerky and sooo slowww.. Has anyone else encountered this on their machines with this game ??
The scenario editor is very user unfriendly as it took me hours just to move a single panzer korps (with it's 3 divisions) to a different location on the map.. The listing of units that you have to scroll through is not in any order with the HQ, Korps and divisions all mixed and jumbled up together...aaaarrrrggggg..
Also I played scenario 14 (recapturing Kerch) and it was dead easy to win by just leaving a div at kerch and a div at Fedeosyia, with the end result, being that the AI due to the rules of seaborne landings could not land any one unit of the HUGE amount of forces, it amassed on the kuban, to invade the kerch penninsula..

Anyhow enough complaining, lets hope this game gets plenty of support in the form of updates / upgrades as it has plenty of potential, and I would hate to see it go the way of the dinosaur ... Shane

Yes you are right Ed, Im very dissapointed with Schwerpunkt <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> The game still needs a lot of playtesting, there are too many things to do yet.
Also I hope Matrix doesnt change their political Im really encouraged about future releases from Matrix <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

P.S. Notify for all WiR forumers :

WIR is not the game with more bugs over the world!!!!!Now...its the second? <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

How did you end up in Switzerland?

What do you do there?
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Iraq, and i have seen
Things are not what they seem.
