Soviet OOB

Post by Iron Duke »

Hi,

Is the CHS going to look into the soviet OOB , there are a few devices -squads ,tanks and assault guns that don't appear to be in the excisting unit TOE's . Also the number of soviet units is pitifully on the low side. (my references are mainly the two David Gantz books - 'August Storm')any comments/thoughts

Cheers

I can't answer your question, but I do have a little to comment on.

In the stock scenario's, I don't see a lot of reinforcements coming into the Russian theatre over the course of the war. Maybe I missed them, but maybe not. I'm guessing that come 8/45 when the Russians activate, they wouldn't actually be able to roll through Manchuria in 3 weeks like they did in real life. They currently get steamrolled if Japan attacks them early. I don't think they'd do much better if they get activated with the 8/45 rule.

A CHS member is currently looking into the Soviet OOB. I won't name him as I don't know if he is ready to answer questions.

Iron Duke...

TOE's are way off per the Red Army Handbook by Zaloga and Ness.

OOB's for 12-7-1941 may be too optimistic even though they left out one of the fronts. Transbaikal IIRC.

OTOH Japanese TOE's for occupation units in China-Manchuko are probably idealized as well. THis is not a TOE game to date.

I've been pissing and moaning but doing little actual research since the baseball season started and I've gone back to TOAW as my game of choice. Seems like it took PacWar a couple of years to settle down too.
