Frag and I did some investigating and found that the ended turn was corrupted. Rob and I never
really thought about that being a possibility. So, now we continue on. [:D][8D]

Here's what I get running this puppy: (based on ending Allied turn and running Japan)
Day Time Surface Combat, near Balikpapan at 31,64
Allied aircraft
no flights
Allied aircraft losses
SOC-3 Seagull: 9 destroyed
Japanese Ships
CS Chiyoda
BB Nagato, Shell hits 28, on fire
BB Mutsu, Shell hits 6
BB Fuso, Shell hits 8
BB Yamashiro, Shell hits 8
BB Ise, Shell hits 8
BB Hyuga, Shell hits 7
DD Mikazuki
DD Sawakaze, Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Yakaze, Shell hits 14, and is sunk
DD Yukaze, Shell hits 10, on fire, heavy damage
DD Wakatake, Shell hits 11, and is sunk
DD Kuretake, Shell hits 1
DD Sanae, Shell hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
Allied Ships
CL Marblehead, Shell hits 78, and is sunk
CL Boise, Shell hits 64, and is sunk
DD Barker, Shell hits 25, and is sunk
DD Bulmer, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Paul Jones, Shell hits 16, and is sunk
DD Parrott, Shell hits 13, and is sunk
DD Stewart, Shell hits 26, and is sunk
Based on what I saw, I would suspect the BB's had already blown most of their ammo loadout before showing up which really makes them CL's with lots of armor. Even then, as you see above looking at the ship damage levels, there was only 1 real hit from the Allies that caused any real damage.
I'd suggest you guys make a copy of your saves and reinstall in case you have something glitched.

Question: I am puzzled.[&:]
How did you get these results when Mogami and the players got different results from you (yet apparently identical results to each other?) Was something different in your runs?
EDIT - Just saw the post where there was some corrupted files. So I guess Mogami got the same corrupted files?

Well that's further localization but not absolute root cause ... was the turn corrupted by sending it in email ... and the resend was correct ? Or was it corrupted by some other mechanism ?

Mogami was sent the turn with the problem already in it ... it took us bouncing turns back and forth a couple of times before I got a good one

Results like this are more accurate in my opinion. Boise must have been hit with a few 14" shells, then took a dive...
Yamato, IMO the best looking Battleship.

A copy of the ended turn that Rob complained about produced the weird results he posted. When I loaded up the saved, but not ended turn, and ended it, frag ran it and it ran normally. [:)]

Well that's actually really good news because 1.5 is "off the hook" ( as regards this issue ) !!
So for those that were "pausing" its "Back to the races" !!!

Not quite Rob, when my machine did the end turn, it corrupted the file. When I redid it Frag had it
run a normal turn( still a bit bloody but your BBs do not have a lot of ammo ). You have mail. [:D]

Opinions?

"My machine corrupted the file" ... sounds like we're not sure exactly what corrupted the file. But if it was the "saving" process ... that would be unlikely to be the WITP game software as players have saved zillions of turns without known corruption ... and even under 1.5 it would be hundreds by now ... so ... not likely to be a WITP v1.5 issue ... if even not sure exactly what caused it. And sounds like we do know that ammo shortage was part of the problem.

agreed..but not all of it to be sure...that lazer like 6 inch guns certainly hurt

RE: Mystery solved
I ran a series of tests tonight using the same units as in Nomad's combat replay he sent me. In none of them was I able to duplicate the killer Boise effect.
I even set up this test to produce extreme hit levels:
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/02/42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Time Surface Combat, near Shortlands at 63,93
Japanese Ships
BB Nagato, Shell hits 31, on fire
Allied Ships
CL Marblehead, Shell hits 8
CL Boise, Shell hits 7
DD Barker, Shell hits 7, on fire, heavy damage
DD Bulmer, Shell hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
DD Paul Jones, Shell hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
DD Parrott, Shell hits 1
DD Stewart
Nagato's damage after the battle SYS=10% FLT=1% Fire=4%
Judging by what i've read here tonight regarding the corrupted email....its not looking like a major bug for 1.5

I see a lot of hits...but what are the damage values....Are they exchanging jabs or body blows? I see no problem if a large slow target gets hit a bunch....
