Post by Kuniworth »

At 3.15 am sunday the 22nd june 1941 Germany declares war and attacks the Soviet-union. Operation Barbarossa is unleashed.

Turn 1

Violent attacks are thrown in the center and around Lvov. All efforts are done with the purpose to annihilate soviet front defense and avoid it escape to the interior. The priority is to force the soviets surrender rather then intially takin cities.

Big success in the center, Biyalastok-pocket cleared. Hoth and Guderians panzers forces the surrender of 110510 men with 612 guns and 1727 tanks.

In the south Kesselrings 1st pz army smash soviet mech corps around Lvov takin almost 50000 prisoners with 400 guns and 1500 tanks.

More prisoners are takin in the north. Lvov, Vilna and Brest-Litovsk falls. We´re standing at the gates of Kaunas, Riga and Tarnopol.

Onward to victory!

Turn 2

Advance continues, coordinated panzerattacks smash Minsk-defence and captures the city. In the north Riga and Kaunas also falls without resistance. This turn a total of 43 000 russians and 917 tanks was captured. Not much...

The Red army seems to be retreating, only some weak units remain in front duty ready to cut supply lines. We got no intelligence-reports where the remnants of the russian front is forming up. Rado seems to be a good player.

Bombing of airfields to no use, just about around some hundreds destroyed in southwest front.

Total soviet losses;

12145 squads
4706 AFV
4391 guns
7392 aircraft

I don't know if it applies here (if it does it is probably a design problem) but it may be the "repaired" tanks being removed, but it should match even then. There are a number of problems with these reports tying together, and this may be one more aspect of it. Oh well, what is another 100 tanks or so with so many already dead? Although it would be nice to know what numbers to trust.

I agree, never seen a better retreat performed by a player. Just finished my third turn and the whole russian army is just gone. Will post more information about it later but either Rado is in your league Josan or..................

7/6/41 Turn 3

The advance continues steadily. Panzer spearheads are closing in on Kiev Mogilev, Vitebsk, Pskov. Zhitomir and Uman was captured. Because the soviet army seems to have escaped the trap it´s all about dashing forward now.

Nothing much happens, still no informations of the whereabouts of the red army. Only some minor combat in the north when a panzercorps from the 3rd Pz army stumble in to russian infantry. To my amazement the russian infantry corps withstand the odds of 874x22 and just retreats losing 5000 men.

In the center, no combat occurs.

On the southern wing rumanian 4th army attacks Odessa and are rejected. Only good news here is that two russian infantry corps are surrounded. But this is also just about the only enemy forces spotted so far. I have no clue where the red army is preparing defence.

soviet losses this turn;

Turn 4

Our troops continue their advance through the russian wasteland. Its now clear that the enemy has giving up all of the Ukraine, Belorussia and the Baltic states preparing defence behind the river dniepr.

In this turn Estonia was cut of and an attack were made against Mogilev. In the south 44th soviet army under Konev could´nt be dissolved from Kiev. However further south 39th russian army surrenders with 322 artillery pieces.

Is´s now clear that the destruction of the red army were only partial. Anxiety is spreading throughout the ranks.

Soviet losses this turn;

1482 squads
42 AFV
418 Guns
450 Aircrafts

Turn 3 (Russian side)

Enemy were spoted near Pskov, Mogilev, Kiev and Uman. Big issue was to evacuate Odessa and if we leave our surrounded armies. General staff decided to evacuate all units. We must have left our surrounded armies. We expect big Germany´s attack next week. The situations is difficult for our defending forces. Today´s questions are: how to replace destruction troops, tanks, largely aircrafts. How long can our defending linie survive? Shall we build second defend linie and where? Can we defend Leningrad?
