Can you tell us more about your first turn? I know you've said in previous posts that you do shallow penetrations w/the panzers focusing on encircling as many forces as possible. Do you focus much on rail conversion? I seems to me that rail conversion would be important for an early german vicory. Do your panzers venture far from your supply lines during the early turns? I have tried to replicate the losses against the Russian ai that you achieved in this game and have been unable to do so.
Hi Danny! Welcome to our community.
Well you won´t be able to replicate the losses in the game. Ippolet did put up defence-lines too early so the russian units were sitting ducks, he only played the game once before. In this version I think the russians must retreat fast behind the dniepr at least in the south and Vyazma in the center. In this game I was very lucky at times as I mentioned before, if we play again things won´t be that easy.
My first turn is no mystery, many players achive casualties of 10000-11000 squads. It´s all about careful planning and But I try to explain;
North;
4th pz army surrounds russian mech corps and force it´s surrender rather than capture Riga.
Center;
Carefully target which unit will attack where and in what pulse against the Biyalistok-pocket to maximise surrender.
South;
Use 1 of 1st pz armys korps and one infantrykorps of 6th army to surround the russian mech corps on the edge of pripetmarsches and force its surrender. Next cut off Lvov. Create/rail down one or more panzers to Constanta.
About airfield-attacks count how many planes you destroy in every attack so you maximise casualties. I´ve used the aircrafts in OKW/OKH for this purpose, never seen that it was unlegal in any post so...
