Yet another thread - I'm ticked off!

Post by ruffels »

Okay so it's 3/42 and I see that the British need to withdraw a CLAA & two DD's. So I move three ships of this type to Karachi and disband them in plenty of time to meet the deadline. 4/42 comes and I'm penalised a humungous number of PP's[:@] and it tells me if I don't provide the ships by the end of 4/42 I'll lose another 800 PP's. I look at Karachi and there's at least one other CL and about 5 other DD's. What does the game want???Now I read the rules on this and it says that you move the British ships to Karachi and the computer will automatically withdraw the ships.
What did I do wrong?
I want my PP's back!!!![:(]

Help someone please!

You have to withdraw them yourself.

Go to the disbanded ships listing and find the ship you want to withdraw, click on the ship, and there will be a button on the ship's info screen. Bottom center.

My rules do not say that the computer will automatically take them. If a ship that will fulfill the withdrawl requirements is in Karachi or San Francisco, it will have an option on its detail screen allowing you to withdraw it.

Okay, I'm an idiot. I missed that last little but all important sentence about manually withdrawing the ship yourself. What a painful and expensive lesson!

Because it would have been soooo hard to code the program to check and ask the player if they wish to withdraw those ships...

True enough, the last thing you would want to do is reduce the micromanagement in this game [;)]

True, but if the system automatically took the ships people would be complaing that they took the wrong ones and why don't I have a button to let me do it etc.etc. etc.

Nah, have the window popup with a list of all the eligible ships and requirements with checkboxes. You check the ones you wish to withdraw, and click "okay". A warning comes up if you still haven't met the withdrawl requirements (complete with a do not show this warning again toggle) and poof you're done. Needless micromanagement has always been a pet-peeve of mine in games, especially when it is labelled "design intent"...
