Processing Fee: 11,59 EUR ???

Post by gab73 »

I would like to buy this game but I refuse to pay the Processing Fee. For what?
Also the VAT Amount is wrong for Germany, so the games is more than 50 Euros alltogether.

Subtotal: 29,99 EUR
Shipping: 4,72 EUR
VAT Amount: 2,61 EUR
Processing Fee: 11,59 EUR
Grand Total: 48,92 EUR

If you want to sell indie games, do it for reasonable prices. (This goes to the publisher, NOT to the developer)

What kind of payment method did you choose?

GIRO or European Bank Transfer. Both cost the same processing fee.

I asked my bank about transfer costs inside the EU:
Bank Transfers betweeen Banks in the European Union cost approximately 25 to 50 Cents per transfer (just like Credit Card).
Money transfer via Check (between Banks in the EU) cost at least 10 Euros plus approximately 1.5 promille of the transfered amount.

Thanks alot for the quick reply!

Kind Regards,

Gabor

Gabor,

Yes, bank transfers can unfortunately cost whatever the bank chooses to charge. This is a pass-through charge that our online store (DR) applies to cover the bank fee. This depends on both the sending and the receiving bank, based on past experience.

I see, so you make more money with the payment method as you charge a check fee and pay an EU Bank transfer fee. You pay 50 Cent for the transfer and keep 11 Euros.

Sorry, I still have to refuse to buy this game unless you charge the right fee and correct the VAT amount.

Maybe you should sell the game to other online stores, I'm sure it would pay off for you.

Gabor

Gabor,

I understand that you don't believe me, but I'm telling you the truth. We don't keep a cent, we don't see a cent of that at all. If there is any money being kept, it would be by Digital River or a bank other than the one you spoke to. That's not something we can change, since these are the terms they offer in order to be able to have this payment option.

I have to tell you, I've never heard of a bank transfer costing only 50 cents. Every time I've done one, the cost has been much higher.

Allright, I believe you. Those damn Banks - they grab all they can get!
But I really asked the Guys here at my Bank about European Transfers (not because of your fee, it was a different matter) and they told me what I wrote above.

Sorry, I didn't want to annoy you - please take no offence.

Kind regards,

Gabor
