Prizewinner Anthony Beevers book "Stalingrad" or why not the old classic "Other side of the hill" by Sir Basil Liddel-Hart.

I used to have a book by Liddel-Hart written in 1938. I believe it was called The Coming War. In it he describes the armies of the Major Powers.
His prediction was that the new "panzer" armies would not substantially change the course of any conflict

Anthony Beevers book "Stalingrad"

I bought this book for my boyfriend Jamie (MUZRUB)
This is my one and only night on the forum. I have been to the Art of War forum and this one. This WIR is nicer. Another good book is "frontsoldaten" by Steven G. Fritz University press. Kentucky (like the chicken)

One Other thing - do you all tell your wives and girlfriends every move you make in your game???
jamie tells me all - oh a quick hi to Matt the aussie - jan, Set and Willie though I haven't chatted to Willie personally but I have heard his name mentioned several thousand times.
Do you all have other halves? or What?? Please let me know because I am interested and maybe they feel the same way I do...
All the best to you all
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Iraq, and i have seen
Things are not what they seem.

That seems strange.
Guderian and the General staff took Liddels ideas on Tank warfare to the extreme (at the time).

Maybe he was like other great men of thought who doubted their own ideas?

hello Lisa! It's nice to see such a nice girl in wargaming forum Muzrub must be happy with you because he is lucky so much that his girlfriend understands(at least partialy) him.
I have a wife(her name is Julia). Very long time ago I tried to tell her how interesting can wargaming be. Unfortunately she did not understand me. In opposite, she used my words to make my relatives to laugh on me Actualy it was not funny. Now I tell her nothing about my "little" hobby. But after nearly six years together, I've managed to interest her in history of WWII. Sometimes I tell her about discussions on this forum.

About christmass gift. In one of the book shops in Dubna, we have archive of all orders and directives of Stavka and RVGK in 45 volumes. This is very interesting material for research. But I would never buy it for myself because it is so huge and expensive.

It was pleasure to meet you Lisa. I am very impressed by your appearing here
Merry Christmass!!!

Merry Christmass!!!

Thanks mate

I was worried about the reception on the Art of War (even that went down well) and WIR but I am glad to see that people still have trust.(as you know people doubt authenticity)
I was sitting here when she was typing- Matthew and Jan were chatting to her. All you guys who have not gotten on MSN and had a chat get on!
If you need a link to it email me muzrub@hotmail.com

She is a great girl- no doubt.

Another good book off topic is "I am Legend"
by Richard Matheson.
The movie "The Omega man" was based on it. (starring Charton Heston)

Lets keep this thread going with good books to read!

How about it!

Liddell-Hart was very much critized after the war because of his opinion of panzer warfare before the war. Many german commanders, such as Manstein, refused to give Liddell-Hart a tribute in his books.

Oh by the way I have no girlfirend. Doubt very much anyone would like having her boyfriend staying up until 4 am playing games. Well Lisa do you got a nice sister out there?

Hi Lisa,
my wife (Beata) doesnt want to listen about tactics, but she always asks who I am playing with and where my opps are from. She also got used to my late nights at comp.
But I have new blood coming ( my 2 years old princess) and she already asks me to switch comp on. She is gonna play wargames soon
