idea for PBEM feature

Post by batou »

I am playing in a 4 person game and recieved a save game meant for another player and it gave me an idea. What if in a >2 person PBEM game, all players can see the moves made (adjusting for whether FOW is on/off) for another countries turn.

By this I mean, if I am playing as Japan in a 4 person game and the Russia/China turn is being sent to the player for the WA, I would like to be able to recieve the save file and replay the turn so I can see what moves China made, while I am waiting for the turn to get back to me. It could work by simply entering the password for your country (in this case Japan), and then you can use the VCR to see the moves made accounting for FOW status.

Then after each turn the save file would get sent to every player allowing everyone to keep track of what is happening and thus keeping interest in the game higher. It would have the added benefit of allowing everyone to know whose turn it is, so games do not get delayed as frequently.

If it were simple to do, I think it would be a great feature for people who like to play 2x2 games.
