For KG Erwin

Post by Dragoon 45 »

KG I have a Peleliu scenario I am looking for input on. Warning it is huge and as designed over 30 turns. It would in some ways be a follow-on to WB's "A Marine Ordeal". It covers as best I could design it the brutal fight for the draws and ravines on Peleliu after the airfield was captured. Would you be interested in taking a look at it? Thank you.

I tried out a few turns of Dragoon's scenario, and for anyone who wants to get a real taste of the type of war the Marines fought in late 1944, then it's a must-have.

He did an excellent job on the design, but be forewarned that this scenario is HUGE. However, Peleliu deserves to be represented on such a massive scale. The amount of firepower available to the US player is almost incredible, but once you encounter the network of Japanese caves & bunkers, you will appreciate why every artillery shell, rocket, bazooka, flamethrower etc. was necessary. The 7th Marines alone suffered 46% losses in a little over three weeks. Of the Japanese garrision, estimated at nearly 11,000, only 202 were taken prisoner--the rest were killed in battle.

File downloaded! Looking forward to firing it up.

On another Peleliu matter, I picked up a new hardbound book on the subject, "Brotherhood of Heroes - The Marines at Peleliu, 1944-The Bloodiest Battle of the Pacific War," by Bill Sloan (also the author of "Given Up for Dead," a book the defense of Wake Island). It is published by Simon & Shuster, ISBN 0-7432-6009-0, $26.00 USD, 386 pages. I found it at B&N.

I'll be looking for this one. How about putting a direct link in here somewhere?
