RE: Testing of HTTR Upgrade

For those interested in doing some testing for the HTTR upgrade, can you please email me directly at dave[at]panthergames[dot]com and tell me a little about yourselves, what wargaming, military and beta testing experience you have. I'll then try and start the ball rolling.

Dave, can I post this in war-historical or do you want to keep it a bit more private ?

Greetz,

Hi Steve,

Well we're half way through the reorg of the Force Data displays on the Side Bar. We're putting in more data, such as Inf, Eng and Recon values, non-AFVs, role in formation, move type, plus displaying icons for the terrain occupied, location grid reference, height, plus hit and move effects of the current location. We're also going to try and see if we can add the "best AFV" and "best Gun" that the unit/force has and display this with a small icon with a rollover tooltip displaying the actual name. But we're yet to implement this.

Wow [:)]

This looks like very valuable information the game could provide that I have always wondered at sometimes while playing HTTR.

Good stuff.

Well we've been held up with a number of bugs and so have not finished the Force Data display just yet. Here's the current state:

The Movement values refer to the Terrain Move Effect % for the current location of the force. The icons to the right are the Move Type for the Unit/Force. Note that in this case while the HQ is itself Foot, it does have some mot units under command and so the force as a whole shows the most restrictive move type. The rest speaks for itself.

Yet to come. We hope to replace the Terrain line at the bottom, which shows a text description of the terrain at the unit's current location. Instead we will display the Map Key icons of each terrain type to the right of the percentage bars and below them the Map Coordinates ( x, y and z ) and hit effects for direct and area fire.

More later...

I loved the strategy guide for HttR, it was one of the best I've read. Unfortunately I don't think they got the returns on it, compared to the time involved in making it, that they were hoping for. So I wouldn't count on a new/amended guide.

Even if it was just amended or had a few pages added to include new features I'd happily buy it again to support Panther Games.

Still, a lot of the aspects will be similar so it'll give me an excuse to re-read it when CotA is released. [:)]

I too bought the strategy guide and it has helped immensly. I probably cut about 50 posts that I had been thinking about and I think my overall strategy has improved to a more thoughtful approach.

To bad that this most likely will not be added to.

Looking good. Thanks for sharing that screen. I am glad to see that the status bars have been consolidated on one display. It appears that there is going to be a lot more information at our fingertips. Supply, improved interface, my HTTR is beginning to feel a bit "dated".

Thanks again!
