Lament of a newbie wannabe scenario designer

Post by DuckofTindalos »

I'm looking for planeside graphics for my Olympic scenario. Here's a short list of what I'd like to see:

- Tigercat
- Bearcat
- P-80
- Ki-83
- Kikka

The Tigercat, Bearcat and Ki-83 are already in the CHS, and I'm going to steal... ehm BORROW them. My problem is the jets; I know I can't possibly be the first to go looking for graphics for them!

And solo pictures of them aren't enough, unfortunately. Or more correctly, they could be, if I had the merest suggestion of a hint of an idea about how to put them into the respective planeside.bmp-files.

Planetop graphics are less of a priority in the short term, as I play with combat animations turned off.

Any help would be met by astronomical, Mr. Equator-like bundles of thanks!

Thanks, Mifune.

The whole reason I posted this thread was so I might pick up some airplane pictures that conformed a bit to the pictures that come with the game.

Since that's not going to happen, I've gone ahead and inserted the pictures into the graphics files myself. One of them was the Kikka picture you sent me a link to.

The results are not as good as I'd like, but they're acceptable for now [:)]

You can use the Ishikawajima engine slot for this bird. If you want additional Kikka details try this link http://psychcentral.com/psypsych/Nakajima_Kikka

I think Pry's scenarios have the P-80.

BTW Terminus, if you check out CHS. You will see in the aircraft slots, #37 Ki-83, #190 F7F Tigercat, and also #248 F8F-1 Bearcat. So all that is needed is to add the Nakajima J9Y1 Kikka to that database. Now can someone offer advice on the best way to add the Royal Thai Armed forces? Should it be its own nationality? Or for convience sakes, should it be part of the IJA? Also then should the proper leaders be inserted into the database? Let the debate begin.

I'm not going to use the CHS for anything other than a source of aircraft data and pictures. I want to be running the scenario under the normal game DB, mostly because the CHS requires Andy Brown's map to use. Great as both are, they're still a lot of work.

I picked up the whole CHS package and the map, but I'd like to try and fit my scenario into the "normal" game, if I EVER end up finishing it [8|]

As for the Thai(Siamese) armed forces, you should probably put it into the IJA OOB. I don't actually think you can add nationalities to the game, and since Siam was a Japanese satelite state...

Leaders can probably just be plugged straight into the DB.

I myself have mostly enjoyed what the CHS team has done, this includes Andrew's map which I find visually most appealing. I am slowly plugging away on a scenaio, so I will withold judgement till some additional quality time is spent. Keep me posted on how you make out with your Olympic.
