Need help getting started.

Post by eaube »

I'm trying to learn to play WiR, but there appears to be a few discrepancies between the manual's tutorial and the game, namely that there is no scenario called Moscow. Does this scenario exist under a different name? And even if it does, will the rest of the tutorial apply properly to it? I'll simply read the rest of the manual to figure out the basics if I have to, but that is MUCH dryer than following a tutorial while actually performing the actions in the game. I greatly appreciate any insights you could offer me.

Well, I found the scenario quickly enough. Thanks anyways, and I look forward to some PBEM games once I figure some things out.

you could probably PBEM me, for I have just started playing WIR as well (and I suck *g*). The others in here would probably finish me off in two months :-)) Have you already played (as the Germans?)? I started crying when the blizzard hit my previously invincible armies for the first time...Just today I finished my game versus the computer, I took Leningrad in ´41, Moscow in ´42 and finally Gorki and Stalingrad in ´43. I was really proud, but after everyone told me that the computer sucks... :-)

Regards, Chris

It will be a while before I'm ready to PBEM anybody: like I said, I don't even fully understand basic movement yet, let alone how to fight an actual war! I certainly can't wait to start playing against others, though.

I give you guys 10 out of 10 for the desire to play well.

I'd like to help out.

I've had a fleeting desire to write a comprehensive guide to playing Wir but i am just too damn lazy.
Not that i know everything about playing the game but i'm at a point where i'm pushing the edge of the envelope. (I hope)

So what i'll do is act as a giver of game advice to pass on what i know. (as much as that is). If you have a question just e-mail me at..

nemesis@northnet.com.au

And i'll do my best to answer any questions.

All the best

Thanks a lot, I'll certainly take you up on your offer if I run into any major problems. I'm glad to see that WiR has such a helpful community!
