amphib assult

Post by tomwvr »

The rules are very unclear about this - I am trying to learn the game - I cannot land troops from transports ANYPLACE. What am I doing wrong. Can someone give me the exact sequence for doing an amphib assult.

Thanks in advance

There are other threads about this, but here's the quick explaination :)

Step 1: make a chain of transports TO the desired landing spot.
Step 2: you'll need 2 transports in the last space per infantry landing (except Japan)
step 3: find a nearby Infantry who is IN SUPPLY (has a supply truck with or near it) it can even be inland, so long as you can strat-move it to the Transport chain.
Step 4: NOW move the infantry from it's spot to the invasion spot.

It's not like other games where you "load" the Infantry and then "move" to the invasion. The transports act as a conveyer-belt, moving things from here to there without themselves moving. Okie?

Essentially, yes.
Each transport has 3 landing ability, and an Inf costs 5 to land. (ditto Arty & Flak)
So to land (say) 5 Inf you'd need 25 ability or 9 transports. Only in the adjacent zone though, you'd just need 1 per zone to get them there (5 Inf = 25 transport cost, which is 1 normal transport). From England to W.France is just 1 zone, so 9 Transports in either place would do the job.
The Japanese transports have 5 ability to land units :)

Yeah, I had a problem with this too. But I RTFM and then it just clicked! The beautiful part about this game is that while it's complex, once you learn something, it's not so overpowering that you forget it.

It's a great PC Boardgame if you ask me.
