PBEM Cheating?

I have a couple PBEM going and I became concerned because the console anti-cheat feature didn't seem to be working as usual. Ordinarily, when I saved a PBEM game that I loaded I would see Console "1" immediately before saving it - and then it would be reset to Console "0" after the save, which is consistent with my understanding of the feature (console 1 added for each load and 1 subtracted for each save). But in the games with one particular person - this was not working. I decided to test it and sure enough - I can exit without saving as many times as I like and console will remain set to "0." I have a copy of the very first email (as opponent is Axis in an earlier game we played) if someone from Matrix would like to take a look at it (before I entered my first password).

It won't show up until after you save the game. Try taking a file, opening it a few times, then going in and finishing the turn. It should read something like "Console 0, Ger 9"

I followed your advice - Maginot. I loaded the game twice and exited without saving. Then I went back and completed the turn to the save point. Console is still "0." [&:]

The Console feature seems to be working correctly in my other games - based on a couple tests with old saves.

By the way - this is not my regular screen name. I have changed it to protect the potentially innocent.....

Is this just happening on the first Axis turn of a new game? If not, you can send a save to 2by3@2by3games.com.

Thanks for responding so quickly, Joel. The feature seems to be not working at all in my games with this particular opponent. I have no reason at all to suspect any cheating other than this. I have sent you an email.
