Following Favourite Units

Post by Corvus »

I'm still only playing my first game (mid '42 as Allied vs AI), but was wondering if other people notice something a particular unit does and it becomes a favourite, following its progress cloesly through the course of the game? Given the sheer number of units in the game, you can't follow them all - and only pilots/squardons are given kill tallies.

In my case I've been following the progress of No 30 RAAF SQDN, 2/13 RAAF Flight and 2/2 RAAF Flight, 32 Beaufort torpedo-bombers based out of Java who have been primarily responsible for smashing so much Japanese shipping it isn't funny. (Dutch bombers have helped out, but 250lb GP bombs are all but useless against anything heavier than A CL, so the 18" torps have done most of the work.)

So far they have accounted for 1 CV, 3 CVLs, 3 BBs, 3 CAs (and one probable), 1 CL (and one possible) and too many lighter ships (DDs, MSWs, MLs, APs, AKs etc).

Given the attachement I've formed to them, Ive ben careful in using them - the day the Death Star showed on in the vicinity, I sent them all on R&R for a while. Luckily their airfield wasn't attacked - the presence of the entire AVG in addition to dozens of Dutch fighters obviously made them wary. Or I just got lucky.
