Prelude to War : Newb edition

Spring 1940, somewhere in the ukraine.

Its hard to tell how far along these tracks we've come, the endless lines lay like steel ribbons all the way back to Moscow. I'll be there soon and begin deciphering the new designs picked up in Berlin.

I can't put my finger on it but the Germans appear to have a swagger about them, a fire! A fire only quenched by bloodshed it seems. I can't lose sight of this, I must remain vigilant while I pull this peasant nation into the new age.

I look east and see the growing hunger for raw materials. West and I see the socalists and their thinly veiled greed . I must plan now, preparations must be made! heads must roll for our inactivity.

I await news from our borders and plan on talks in the near future with Chamberlain, He seems weak and I should do well in negotations for tractor parts and grain markets.

what a nice prelude to war!

i really think that this thread will be an interesting one, however, being the highest command of the JPN, i cant read this thread until the war ends ... in the distant future (btw, im still waiting for the germany Sp40 turn).

keep this thread going and dont worry, as we have FOW on, no JPN spies in this thread. [;)]

Western Europe In flames...
IJN home fleet lives up to its namesake...
Germans attempting to keep the sand from their tracks in Africa...

The Headlines of Distant War are all to common this spring in Moscow....more to follow.

I await word from the Comonwealth on their recent set backs this season. Germany pushes into North Africa in hopes of securing oil resources and consolidates gains in Western Europe. Our operatives tell us the Germans drag their feet incorporating their newly aquired infastructure, possibly to save supplies for further thrusts this year. Our Non-agression pact stands firm but I will not let my guard down.

Spring 40 cont'

Peng Shan - General Officer Commanding XVIII Corps reports all infastructure and manpower that could move under its own power has been successfully withdrawn to secure the interior provinces. I can only hope the Japanese aggressor further tugs at the worlds collective conscience. In the face of huge troop deploments we hold our breath, check our rifles and wait....

On a brighter note it was welcome news to find that General Phu Man Chu and his rag tag division of old men and small boys was no match for The French Indo Gisha Girls left to guard that province. Phu Man Chu asked and was permitted to stop by and pillage the resources there on his way back to the capital.

Summer 41

Chinese industry is cut and the world fears China may capitulate and join Axis forces. Only a few brave souls left in the Capital.

Russia now looks east and starts to gear up its war machine to protect itself from the japanese threat.

with Yugo and eastern block still frozen we feel confident that Russia can retain the initiative in any border conflicts that may develop in the future...

Russia Spring 42

Moscow:
Reports are finalized and our industial capacity has entered phase 2 of our ten year plan. (x3)

Border patrols indicate Germany builds up troops on our western borders. We are confident they that they are either too busy with Churchill in the west or simply want to intimidate us into renegotiations of our shared borders.

Japan's thrust into Central China appears to have ended and although our communist brethern are impotent they still have a presence at the table. Russian intelligence shows Japan has strecthed themselves in regard to supply. We rest easily in the east but prepare for the worst.

Russian scientists have completed testing on our new air and ground munitions just in time to take advantage of our increased production. We now concentrate on arming our infantry forces with more than just flint locks and pitch forks. Caution must still be the order of the day as our May Day parade has inspired some in the Kremlin to envision an even greater Mother Russia before perhaps it is ready for it.

Summer 42

Russian forces stand firm and continue to increase. China swallowed up and almost gone.

Almost all of the euro neutrals have been swallowed up by Germany and Japan stands poised to resource grab in the south. They'll have to hurry though, world opinion is being swayed against them.

Fall 42

Moscow:
Production conditions unabated as all factorys continue to churn out the weapons of war.
Official protests filed in Berlin over trade and boundry desputes in Poland and Rumania. We await their reply to our ultimatums.

East asia and surrounding Pacific regions continue to swell with japanese troops. The resource grab can't be far behind.

Western Europe:
In a bold move Churchill's BEF forces that had gained a foothold in France were bitterly pushed back into the sea and home by German forces reployed from Berlin. News of this was a dissapointment in Moscow and Mao's mountain retreat but perhaps a chink in the armor that is fortress Germany may be showing. The Med goes dark for both sides as attrition takes it toll.

Winter 43

Moscow:
A call to arms is issued as Germany denies our access to the fruits of the spoils in Poland and Rumania. We must now take it by force!!

There is a new saying around Moscow now, "We march in the winter, we die in the spring, Hoy!Hoy!Hoy!" its usually followed by a huge vodka chug ...

In our initial troop deployements Finland is assimilated and all our forces now stand like a fist ready to grab what it rightfully ours !! All along the routes leading west trains try and keep schedules and the entire transport network is taxed to its limits in most regions.

Spring 43

Moscow:

hay Fazman, too busy with ur tons of pbems on going and no time for this AAR? [:)]

let me update the situation of IJN in Su43 ...
while the allies are knocking on Berlin doors, IJN is doing fine in the Far East in RP grabbing and transports hunting.

while a tack force of US pacific fleet (USPF) has managed to give a brave charge into the philipine sea and sank a IJN transport, the IJN navy has managed to cut off this USPF task force (1BB and 1DD) from any support. besides, the IJN navy of 5 CV engaged the main USPF (sth like 3BB, 2CV, 2 DD) north east of Coral Sea and damage/ destory all BBs, 1 DD and all CAGs with no loss [:D]. glory days of the IJN navy!!!
