He land on the strip of land south of Osaka, so there was no way to cause any damage at all. The game is pretty much over all that is left is can he get enough points and in what time. Thinking back over the game the practice he used that saved him was landing on hexes without bases in the PI, and China. This cut many of my troops off saved him ship and troops loses on defened hexes. Not much I can do in stopping this landing, what also killed me was he bypassed the Marianas and went Wake. marcus, Iwo to start bombing Japan. Thus he trapped many troops in the marianas.

Matsue now is under attack by two inf reinforced by other units.. it is lightly garrisoned and will fall quickly unless he moves troops .. which is fine as they will open a gap somewhere else..
Hep tried unsecceffully to rout three armored units that had been the initial troops to Osaka, behind them is the watr machine.. maybe 10% off loaded from the over 1000k headed to Japan,

I agree with Zeta, why waste troops and ships when you can land and move from a beachhead ?

BANZAI

Good to see the Kami's hitting something, its one thing i look forward to as the Japanese player in the later months of the war, is prepping my final defences in Japan, and unleashing Wave after Wave of Kamikaizes against invading American ships [:D]

[&o] Very soon I will get my toe hold base, and then its a race for Tokyo..
kamis have been a great mystery.. I thought they would be sinking a ship a day and seems they do not kill ships but do damage.. several of the cve may make port..
another sig aspect is close proximity of ports for repair etc...

Waiting for the last turn, I am hittingthe base just belowe and to the left of Masue.. seems he evacuated to reinforce Matsue... also those two bases in the island below and to the left of Osaka... I can only imagine if I had all those corps in China that where never replaced and the SWPAC hq, vanished??? how much more pressure in China I would be putting. I currently am dailly hitting his troops and ports in the western third of Japan and southern Korea...

Maizuru is being pounded in force by massed torpedo/dive FB and soon heavies if these planes cannot disrupt them.. something like 750 planes tasked with this attack..
Nice taking a large city with a large Port and Airfield in the center of Japan. after the above falls we will concentrate on Osaka.. 200k plus defenders! score is now at apx 62k to 90k and the massed bombing continues. All my B29 are at full strend and another 100 will be added to the mix as soon as they can be transfered to the new bases from West coast... odd they have a 12 bomber group!.. all other 48

I have maybe 50% of the troops now committed in JApan, not included the Chinese.. and rear area forces.. just the usable commenwealth and US troops. about 2/3 have reached the attack cities.. slower troops like artilery still lag somewhat. I also need to bring more HQ's into the new Japan front. These are thelast few days of Chinese hosting the 29's, as two forward size 7 bases will be ready shortly. May split them up to better cover targets and avoid no raid days from weather. Bon Homm Richard? took a Kami hit BTW, 10 system damage one fire.. no worries, the airbases used also where hit hard.. and will be punished for good next turn hopefully killing a majority of the planes on the ground.. this is the primary target forthe b24 groups with fighter support.. especially sense I have been running supplies by Tokyo!

OUCHIE, Yorktown 2 sinks after kami raid.. so much for my comments about how ineffective kami attacks are!...
score just below 30k advantage now, the 12 plane group is the 29 abomb group... so ythey do nothing untill the bomb is ready.

Lots of troops continue to poor into enemy territory and more and more.. I just am amazed att these figures in planes and troops.. Agood amount of my air is concentrated at Amami Itsikari? and Matskame.. sorry about the spelling...
b29 on rest day after pummeling resuorce center in Soul.. no reason to let supplie be generated anywhere.... If I had another 6 divisions I would laundch the cancelled operation pink blossums in summer, the invasion of northern korea.. seeking to cut off the remnents of the jap army in China.. funny seeingthe might chineese forces beating up on the japs.. strange how supply on one side and none on the other will effect things [:D]

next target in china is Shanghi.. no rush though...
hoping to have taken osake and area by mid May.. and be ginthe drive on Tokyo

quick question, I read on some forum post - by frag i think- about a bonus 40 jap divisions forming at an invasion - or after a certain date (not sure which) -any sign of them - anyone know anything?

Also - best performing plane against the corsair -any opinions?

great AAR - hats of to the both of you for sticking it out to this end.

I sure hope note re those jap divisions, maybe it was the invasion of the US???
anything with good experienced pilots does well against poor untrained 50 or 60 exp corsairs, NOTHING does well against trained , above say 77 corsairs.. imo

I keep pooring in troops, most of the artillery has not made it to the cities under seige, llooks like a few more days and yet I have such an overwhelming force ?? hard to say, Z cannot divert too much to the three cities , he knowsI will simply land behind him is he does.. "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't type situation" that seems to be how I got Okayama so easily, not sure but he didn't have anything there and I thought it was garrisoned..

I am moving the last of the pacific fighter fb and level bombers, those crappy venturas not able to upgrade due to my flagrant abuse of the PBY24 pool.. just a note I have LOTS of 29s in the pool, so I could eaily have 5-7 more groups operating.. "I" and "O" nearly to level seven airbase size... did not check points bu I hit a lot of city industry so I probably passed the 30k mark or apx 147% on my way to 200 and the win... actually I am neither the victor nor the vanquished.. we just where lucky enough to be able to enjoy the time coordination and get so much done, last Quick game for me.. back to other things..

fyi, to all you Allied PBEM players, I often take the scenic route to a base, landing on open ground and marching, slower but much less costly in terms of troops and ships sunk to costal bateries

I just loaded several more 99 experienced divisiones from coastal china, when all these powerfull forces come inshore there will be a massive thrust outward .. A good deal of artilery is now in MAsturi,sp?, and after resting the ground troops another wave of assaults.
I already have a decided advantage there and am mounting a stepped up campaign to reduce the troops defending it to disrupted rabble.
Osaka will be after that .. and Hiroshima now besieged ...

Perhaps a naive question, but in terms of VPs are you losing out by capturing so many japanese cities that you don't have enough to bomb from strategic VPs?

At this point, I'd say the hell with VPs -- conquering the home islands, China and Korea several months before the historical surrender would count as a decisive victory in my book regardless of an artificial VP score.

Once the bulk of my available commonwealth toops get ashore Z will feel a reel pressure, these over supplied troops will face a dispirited, yet entrenched army at each base, that I will pound into dust, I now hove something like 5k planes inthe the immedite area, plus all my B29's that are out of Japan proper.. and many good quality Chineese troops with high ratings advancing towards Shanghi. after S falls, then I should be past OSaka as well and we will be landing along costs to cut sdupply flows and marching on peaking and Tokyo.. that will obviously take some time.. I really wqould like to activate the Russians anbd invade Northern JApan[:D]

Osaka now is a sideshow with the main assualt at the city just north and West at least on a flat tilted map! I have about 65% of the troops in Japan that can get there already in place, and maybe another 10 divisions in route plus artillery etc... total assualt points may top out at around 15k, plus dayly heavy and tactical bombing!!!! tough time to be a jap soldier. from there Osaka aand then on to the East. The score remains at about 148% apx with 200% points a long lonmg way off... I do noyt think the scoring is correctas I have destroyed a lot of strategic assets, but seem to only be getting damaged points.. no matter I plan on rulling the Island and Korea in 1945

Attacking force 1393 troops, 10 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 25996 troops, 172 guns, 50 vehicles

The attack on Maizuru reduced the fort level and did not lower the troops much, so they will attack again.. and may capture it this attack due to the overwhelming difference in numbers and the Japs must be seeing really sevear disruption from both the attacks and the air bombards...
Matsuyama should fall soon, it is held by a tiny Jap force, Itsikuri just reached level 7, the other basse is at 64%.. and soon those two level seven bases will hose most of my airpower in the local area... In China I am mobilalizingthe Great Chineese offensiv to recapture Shanhia.. those poor guys inlan will be really in the pooper after they loos all the land lines out of China.. and the myth of Jap invinsibily is now just that .. looking for the meeting of Chineese and Russian troops in Korea...
Z has committed a huge force of 250k at Osaka, I may have to drop in behind them to force their destruction?? which is better, to leave them alive so they eat Z's few remaining supplies or kill them and get the points?
