My map now available as a single file

Post by Andrew Brown »

I have created a single JPEG file of my WitP map, for anyone that wants to use it for planning purposes or whatever. The file (7.8 MB) is available from my WitP website.
Here is a direct link to the file:

WitP map file

The file is only available in one (the default) map style at the moment.

Nice map, been wondering...haven't replaced the stock map yet. Just replace the map file with your version?...or is it slightly more complicated than that?

Edit: Read your website seems very simple, thx for the map.[:D]
Yamato, IMO the best looking Battleship.

To keep from messing with the map swapping utility.[;)]
It's better to have a seperate install with AB's map and scenarios.
Just rename a new file to Map Mod WITP. Then reinstall WITP there.
Now you can place all your new mods in it and keep your original WITP games and scenarios in the original download file.

Andrew,

Are the Japanese islands linked by rail? I'm curious about movement of oil/resources around.

Thanks,

Mike

On my map, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu are all connected by rail links. Hokkaido is not. Also, the hexsides between the first three islands mentioned are river hexsides.

I assume this is for game play purposes, rather than historical accuracy?

Pretty.

So very pretty.

Now if I only had the time to start another PBEM game, so I could actually use it!

Andrew, thanks a lot for your great work. I hope you’ll update your scenario for this map when the next patch comes out cause I’m going to start my first pbem using your map.

Well, a bit of both actually. My guess (note - GUESS) is that local shipping such as ferries and the like would have been operating between the islands, making transport between them fairly rapid. Thus the rail links. If this is an innacurate view, then I am happy to be corrected.

Free time is not something I have a lot of, but I always try to get updated scenarios out as soon as possible after a new patch. It normally takes a week or two for me to do it, though.

So does this mean we must transport oil and resources to Hokkaido separately?

By the way, the map is beautiful. I love using it.

My map has a one hex separation between Hokkaido and Honshu ports, as does the official map, so I think that is correct.
