Radars Penetration Value???

Why do some Radars have a penetration value? Some do and some don't?

This determines whether or not they are "air search" ( or surface search ). If I remember right =500 mean air ... otherwise surface.

Well also the military did play with concentrated microwaves to destroy targets. Don't think it worked out too well though. IIRC targeting was spotty and range was short.

Of course this all happened in the 60's so ingore all this...[:D]
