Is the US player going to get the ability to have his animations on?

Post by Knavey »

Its turn 2 now on 1 of my 2 PBEM games and I still have no animations and no combat reports. I want them both back. Having to rely on my opponents settings is a crock. I don't blame them for not wanting to sit through all the BS, but I do want that option.

Is it going to be restored, or am I going to have to ask them to sit through the parts they don't want to.

Moses and I had the same problem when we updated. When you get your turn back (as the Japanese player) let it run through and then go into the parameters area and make sure it has Combat Animations on. I turned it off and then turned it back on. Everything worked fine after that! Give is a try...

I can both attest to this "nuisance" as well as the effectiveness of the fix. Not sure what brings it about, but one run through the turn after you upgrade from both sides will make things right.

Hi, The Japanese player has to run the turn and then on his order phase enter the pref menu and set the upgrades and turn the combat report and animations back on. The Allied player should also reset his his preferences. The patch turns them off to install but the players have to turn then back on.

So we aren't locked into the Japanese player settings? Will have to give it a shot then.

Mog,

I just looked and all my preferences are set to give me the animations and reports, but they are still not being generated.

I should get the other PBEM turn later tonight, so will see how that one goes.

From what I heard in the support forum (EDIT: look under Combat animations gone) yes you are locked, but just ask Japan to set them ON and then if he doesn't want to sit and watch he can allways press ESC when animations pop up and do it the fast and uninformed way [;)]

Firstsy, what matters is "in game" preferences, NOT the ones you access from the main game screen. When playing your turn, click on the IIRC leftmost button on the toolbar and set the preferences for the game there. Ask your IJN opponent to do that, and ask him to turn everything ON.

I really love the current system (even tho I play only IJN in my current batch of games so I didn't have any sync problems anyway). I think it can be tweaked to anyone's taste.
