Getting in first

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

For a matter of idle interest, the avatars the developers and Beta testers are using, are they in game portraits of the leaders?

Yes, that's right. There are around 100 little leader portraits. IIRC; 80-some regularly used in-game ones, and about 20 more for scenarios/extras. There are also some 'generic' national generals.

Hey, thanks! We tried to get inspriation from as many historical sources as possible to capture the feel of the period. Things like books, paintings and even furniture from that era. So there are lots of wood-grain and gold frippery for the interface and bits of paintings and things (ie portraits), and the main map has a hand-drawn look.

Some of my favorite parts of the gfx are the animating weather effects in the detailed battles (aka Hexwar) and the diplomatic advisor ... he looks like a real weasel. But there are always more cool ideas than what you have room/time to reasonably fit in. Our next game will look even better!

Do all leaders have their portraits? One of the screenshots shows Bennigsen has his own missing.

Some leaders do not have portraits.

We left room for people making game mods to add 100 additional leader portraits if they want to add new commanders to the game.
