Saving game in PBEM

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

Saving game in PBEM

Post by enric_herrera »

Maybe is a stupid question, I'm a novice in BIN.
A friend and I tried to begin a game by email but, I see, I can not save the game, that means I should make all the moves in a session?.

Thanks

That's right--you have to play the turn all the way through in one sitting.

If you are playing a SECURE email game, however, you can go to the upper right-hand corner of the screen and X out of the game in the middle of the turn. When you restart the program, the main screen will be changed to something like Resume Email Game instead of Load Email Game, and you will ONLY be able to play that secure email game you were in when you exited.

Note that there IS a bug in this feature--when you do this if your opponent looks at the turn replay he sees all of YOUR units, even ones way behind the lines, including important things like supply trucks!--and the way the units move to make combats is 'backwards'. Because of this is it NOT recommended that you exit early (though it was life-saver for me once when the power went out!) and you really can get hurt when your opponent KNOWS where all your units are if you make it a habit of doing this.

If you are playing a non-secure game you have no recourse of this sort--at worst you can reload and play the entire turn from the beginning. This is of course frowned on since you could get in the habit of reloading and replaying the turns until you get combat results you like--which is why the secure mode was created since you can't reload and restart a secure email game turn in that way!

thanks pterrok.

I understand, it's all to avoid triking. I wonder how long it could take a turn on a overlord scenario.

Thanks again
