A lurker who just checked in to say thanks. Your mod is much easier on the eyes and more informitive than the original. Anyone on the fence should give it a try.

Thanks for your comments gentlemen. It’s appreciated. I must confess I use original map only for testing nowadays and this new version was a forced release. Andrew Brown’s map is the only one true map mod, it’s not just a rendition, this mod improves your gaming experience in the most spectacular manner. With CHS now available, AB’s map seems like the only possible way to go for me. Give it a try… you won’t be disappointed. One day… I hope… there will be a brand new art for this map too. In the nearest future I’ll post my first version of this map, with neutral colors and “smart” symbols, the variant I currently use since root-radical redrawn variant is still far from completion. Regards

Hi Tenzan! Welcome back. I’ll try to fix the link, sorry for the inconveniences.

I hope the mod will be available on Spooky’s site soon …

Hi

Does anyone else have the WITP08 and WITPN08 looking different form the others? see attch.

uhmmm... not sure if this picture is going to work, how do I change from bitmap to jpg?

ok, I go it
edit sorry jpeg looks so bad, the left part of the screen shows different sea color than the right side, the right side is the WITP08, that's what's different from the rest of the sea.

I’ve found the problem. I will fix it. Some parts of the map are in the wrong format. I did not notice this problem cause I run the game in 32 bit color mode. When I run it in 16 bit color things look a lot different.

However, it’s not that serious, here is the easiest solution

Initialize game in 32 bit color

1) Create a shortcut from the EXE (right-click on it then drag & drop it).
2) Right-Click on the new shortcut and choose properties.
3) Add space then -deepColor to the far right of the “War in the Pacific.exe" on the Target line, such as “C:\Matrix\War in the Pacific.exe" –deepColor

In 32 bit mode everything will be fine. In 16 bit mode map doesn’t look very good. Sorry for this problem, I’ll recode the files and you will be able to play the game in casual 16bit color.

Captskillet, it is curious. I asked the same like 2 months ago (the "plane" symbol instead of the "cross": the airfield symbol). But I did not know where was that file (not even who was the author). I looked at every sample chez Spooky and finally managed to know that Subchaser did it. I e-mailed him (I use his map too) and he kindly sent it to me [:)]

Thank you for your great job, Andrey. Anyway, the link you give does not work. I will wait and download it from Spooky's site.

You can use this download site http://rapidshare.de/ for files up to 50MB with unlimited downloads. I realise this file is 100MB though.

Corrected version 2.1 will be posted soon. I’ve found a new host. V2.1 will be suitable for both 16bit and 32 bit modes. If you have already downloaded v.2.0, and experience problems mentioned by Rocco, please run the game in 32bit mode, initialize game thru the shortcut (procedure described above).

Btw, I wonder how many of us run WitP in 32bit mode, that 1.5 feature makes even original style map look good. I’m asking cause I can post version that I use personally, it has no noise over the water areas, no hazy effect and in 32bit mode looks crystal clear, in addition it’s only 48mb big (both variants).

captskillet, here is the icons
