Sees Feinder walk in.

Listens intently as Feinder starts to say something.

Watches as Feinder turns and exits.

Starts to stop Feinder as he walks away.

Decides better, shrugs shoulders and lurks some more.

Why not just choose an end date for production? B17E replacements stop on 9/44 or some such? Wouldn't this be easier?

Why stop in 1944? Why not in 1942 when it really ended? The FORTRESS AGAINST THE SUN numbers are about as correct as anyone could hope to have, so pick a date in 1942 when the B-17's entering the GAME start to exceed the ones entering the WAR by a rediculous amount and end production. Then we can go fix the Japanese, who have some just as obsured numbers floating around.....

As good as suggestion as it is (to halt production), to my knowledge, the DB doesn't have the ability to turn off production. Which is exactly why, by war's end, you end up with a bunch of TBDs in the pool. The production never stops.

Because I wasn't paying close enough attention to recall that the last date of production had been placed in 1942, that's why. It wasn't a suggestion to keep production going on ahistorically, just a date tossed in out of the blue as an example...

The real problem is that off map factories (replacement rate) never goes away. So, you'll end up getting B-17E's all war long. If they were represented as a factory (only) and upgraded to the B-24, then it'd be better. You could have a 50 factory that would change planes. Instead of 50 replacements for B-17E and 50 replacements for B-24 (100 planes per month instead of 50.)

I know the drawback to having on map factories is that japan could affect production (bombing them), while in reality, only a few factories were even remotely vulnerable.

Could put em in that special United States base on the far east of the map.

I mean, he could bomb them in theory, but in practice thats not going to happen, is it. [:D]

edited to add : oh, too slow me. [:(]

Hi
I am in a game at Aug 44.

My last group of B-17Es have just upgraded to B-24.
Now, the B-17E has been dropped from my replacement pool. No more being built.

So, you could have a house rule which forced you to upgrade B-17E by a certain date.
When done, it should be dropped from pool.

Michael
