Although this feature appeared to have been introduced to Win SPMBT it´s doubtable that reverse movement fits the game scale of 50m per hex! Even with some abstraction, I think no tank would reverse more than maybe 10-30m at best. Fits just better for a 10-20m hex scale (like Combat Leader).

It works reasonably well in WinSPMBT. MP costs for reverse movement are 3x whatever forward in that terrain type are, so you can't go far, hopefully just far enough.

My only experience with backing up tanks is from the Combat Mission and Panzer Elite game. Mostly revers into a light depression or mould in the terrain, or behind a hill crest, house, ect. No more than 10-20m of reverse movement. What do real tankers tell?[X(]

In game terms, to back up, you turn around, go back two hexes, turn around again, and move forward again. This, AFAIK, was how they actually did it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure how they did it in WW2 but in my experience a tanker would never turn around in sight of the enemy. You always back away from them no matter the distance until you were out of sight, then you turn around. It you were caught out in the open thats one thing but in the defense you never did that.
