Talking about succesful rebuilds, this is the Iowa:[:)]

Actually, it's partially submerged Iowa. What we can see here is a part of superstructure, with main hull and turrets snorkeling a few meters underwater. Guess they're doing watertightness test. Guess also it's not going very well. [:D]

Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage.

To be serious for a fleeting moment, it IS the Iowa. The first one that is; USS Iowa (BB 4), during sea trials in 1897.

Are you SURE that's the Iowa? It's flying a flag that says "CRAMP."[:D]

I think it's possible that the BB in question (and in the photo) actually agrees with you! Am I the only who noticed that it's presenting the Hawaiian one-barrelled peace sign salute? [:'(]

Well, the only place where I was wrong is that this was actually the second Iowa.

What about the USS Mississippi as AG 128? I always thought that was an interesting Mod, wish she could have that configuration in WITP [:)]

Well admitedly the New Mexico's conversion from cage masts to Tower structure was done pleasantly so they do not fall into the butt ugly catagory. However the conversion to missile test ship was clearly a mistake. Missles make sissy sounding S-S-S-S-S noises when they launch. Compare that to the resounding, masculine ROAR of the big guns when they fire. BOOOOM!

Just say no to Missiles. say Yes to the big guns!

Okay. I'll take an Iowa class, remodeled with cruise missiles, you can have one with just the old guns. Figure we start the battle at a range of say, 50 miles...

Well, you should probably remember the heavy armour too. Harpoon and Tomahawk missiles aren't exactly armour-piercing.[:)]

Why elongate the hull when you can stick turrets on top of each other.

No, that's either an ironclad with cookie tins and tomato cages on top or another bath toy.[:D]
