PTO and PTO2 by Koei

Any of you guys ever played these games? I first started playing PTO on the Super Nintendo. Then came PTO2 which I played on the SNES also. Finally a PC version of PTO2 was released and that one was the best. I loved the game and it was my favorite!

I never did play the original Pacific War much. It came with a collection I purchased years ago call Twenty Wargame Classics. I never really knew how to play it and it just did not seem to work too well. I hope that the new pacwar will be even better then PTO2.

S! Yes Warspite, I have played both PTO and PTO2 on SNES but couldn't find it for the pc. What is the difference between PTO2 on SNES and PTO2 on the pc? Pacwar is FAR more detailed than PTO2, but lacks some features that PTO2 has. Eg/ there is no board room to allocate funds, you cannot build new ships or planes, and there is no tactical part where you can control the battle and outcome. Other than that, it is an excellent game which will be updated soon with new features.

You have a disk of PTO II for the PC? When I contacted KOEI, they said no PC release was ever done for either game... Not that I have much stock in thier word... If you do would you consider downloading a copy to me? I havent found it anywhere despite persistent rumors it existed and I am not buying SNES just to play PTOII... Will pay reasonably, if necessary

Thanks headhunter , but I feel stupid here, heard about emulators but know nothing else how to obtain,install, or run them so you are far ahead me on this...

for a start try Snes9x which can be downloaded for free from www.snes9x.com.
Installing is simple: Just unpack the archive or run the setup.
Then you need a ROM-image of the game you want to play. You should be able to find it on the web.

I have a copy of PTOII in my possesion, and as far as I am concerned, PTO was better. For one thing, PTOII was WAY to easy even with the settings on hard. all you had to do to win was mass your fleets and put 8BB in one fleet and pound a single fleet and hith them with a full carrier fleet and one time. And either side can do it at the beginning of the war. When playing as the US in the past, I got Britain/Austrailia/Netherlands to join Japan to make it somewhat of a challenge.

Well unfortunately I am pretty much in the same boat as you guys. I have lent my PTO2 copy to a friend of mine who never returned it! This was because he told me he could not find it anywhere and wanted mine to see if a friend of his can burn it. Well, like I said never got it back.

I may be able to get it back from him and in fact will call him tomorrow and see what the hell he has done with it. If I am able to get it back I will gladly burn anyone a copy of it, won't be a problem. He had better not misplaced the damn thing or something.

...and if you did kill the poor guy, please say it wasn't with the copy of PTO2, 'cause I would love a copy of it also. P.S. CLR works great on blood stains, I know I had to use it on some of my tools... " out damn spot out I say" ( just kidding! ) I do hope your friend hasn't lost the copy.
