Re-declare war?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Re-declare war?

Post by Sonny »

Why do I have to re-declare war on someone I already declared war?

I declared war on Tunisia and invaded and defeated Tunisian troops. Austria said stop it or else. I said buzz off. There was no indication that I saw that I was now at war with Austria (though I may have missed it). Austria landed troops in Tunisia which I defeated. I now expected my troops to assault the city - nothing happened. Another turn - nothing. Looked at the relations report and found I was not at war with Tunisia any more! Re-declared war on Tunisia, assaulted the city and took the province.

But why did I need to re-declare war??[&:]

Sonny,
Is your diplomatic advisor on? Sometimes if he is on then he will make peace without your permission...
You are what you do, when it counts.

I don't think he was but I will check next time it happens.

I had something similar. Declared war on Piedmont, which had only one remaining province, Sardinia (the rest having been taken by Austria). I invade, win and Sardinia becomes my protecterate. Next turn, however, Sardinia reverts back to Piedmont (my guys are still sitting there) and I have re-declare war and do the whole thing over again.

No advisors turned on.

That is two bugs, then.
1. The obvious, that newly conquered province is reverting to its previous loyalty.
2. If you conquer Sardinia, it should be conquered until you choose to make it a protectorate - they shouldn't automatically assume protectorate status.
