Difficulty levels

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Difficulty levels

Post by Latour_Maubourg »

Pardon my ignorance but can someone please explain to me the various difficulty levels...
It starts with easy to very difficult, rather understandable..but then you have the levels general to Bonaparte.
Do I have to understand from that, that the general level is very, very difficult...and that Bonaparte is very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult [;)] or is there another thought behind this?

Difficulty levels affect tax income and resource production, i am sure about it, as well power too affect these factors.
i think the more the difficulty level, the more offensive the AI play too, beyond that not tested the game enough to say more.
hope this help,

with best regards,

Alaric.

Bonaparte is the highest setting for the AI.

How do the "named" levels such as Bonaparte, Blucher, etc. compare to the more standard terminology, say Hard/Difficult? Are they the same but just named differently, or are they really different?

They are the same with just greater advantages to the AI. I guess they had to start useing names so they wouldn't have a real real real really super hard level.[:)]

I have read somewhere in the forum that the Power Setting determinds the extra amount of Corps you get at start, where the difficulty setting affects your economy. Again, not sure, would be kewl if the developers gave us a general breakdown of this.

Ya know, I have never heard it put so succinctly, but that is a really good description of my observations. I don't know the precise details of how it is done, but I am bullying Eric to tone down the AI's production of cash at the top levels, and instead give them more production of materiel. It might get described in the economy guide Eric is writing... [Thats a request, Eric.]

Hello everyone, first of all thank you, Ralegh about all working you are doing with your guides and advices, found all it very interesting,
i must say that a this point i like the settings about how difficulty and power affect economy, i like to play with all powers at +3 power, this way it is limited the waste and give more freedom to make more units, i like very large armies, very difficult to in high level difficulty levels and with low power to make a new army, you only can focus in preserve your initial forces and build very few units.

with regards,

Alaric.

Alaric's experience suggests that the power setting also affects economy pretty significantly. I'll have to try playing with everyone at +3, or -3 for that matter!

Please take care about this breakdown of economy for france in 1805-standard scenario...
Maximum Difficulty (Bonaparte) and Lowest Power (-3) give a Tax income of 297$ for france in the standard scenario
Mimimun Difficulty (Easiest) and Lowest Power (-3) give a tax income of 407$ for france in 1805
Maximum Difficulty (Bonaparte) and Maximum Power (+3) give a tax income of 959$ for france in 1805
Minimun Difficulty (Easiest) and Maximum Power (+3) give a tax income of 1289$ for france in 1805
it affect to resource productions as well, but this settings by the designers give a great variety of difficulty levels, very good thing, i think. People that go to bankrupt can try tweaking this settings for a more easy play.

it is from another past post from me.

with best regards,

alaric.
