Repeated DOWs with Minors

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Repeated DOWs with Minors

Post by Ralegh »

I want to apologise - a couple of people raised problems with declaring war and needing to redeclare war, and I (among others) dismissed the problem as related to the Diplomacy Adviser. It ain't so - there is a real bug - and I have now logged it.

Situation: A province that belongs to a neutral minor country can somehow get stranded so it thinks it still belongs to that country, even though the country does not exist. (example: Illyria province thinking it belongs to Veneto, but Venitia is actually a conquered belonging to Austria). In this situation, if you declare war on Veneto, the following month you will no longer be at war. Further, if you occupy the province, it will change to looking like it is yours, and then the next month just revert to being neutral (and at peace with you, of course).

No workaround - the only way to break this cycle would be for a diplomat to change the status of the minor (coup or charm, I suppose).

I have asked Eric to include a fix in the patch.

Thanks. It means I am not going crazy - or crazier than I already am.

I believe this is deliberate, but if it's causing the bug I'm in favor of changing it.

Aha! I think this helps explain all the craziness with Poland.

Thanks!
