Diagonal hash pattern in protectorates

I have seen this several times playing Turkey and acquiring Tripolitania or Algeria as a protectorate. The province has both the normal vertical pattern and a diagonal pattern.

Let me clarify one thing: the time I saw it with Tripolitania was after conquering Tripoli and Benghazi asking for protectorate status, which I accepted. Only Benghazi had the multi-pattern markings.
