Free Setup on Detailed Battles?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Free Setup on Detailed Battles?

Post by MartNick »

How about having a free setup for the detailed battle mode, get a bit tired of the AI steaming in and capturing arty and supply units before I get a chance to move. Plus in the attached pic my supply units are trapped by the terrain, luckily I still won by shear weight of numbers .... just

The picture is funny. Only way they could have gotten there in real live is if they where in a beach area, and somehow the fleet dropped the supply stuff of in a cultesak.

I find the city replenish option a live saver in those situations.

I agree. The cities have saved me several times! I seem to have some fear of building Supply Depots. My therapist and I are working on this. She says that first I have to admit there is a problem....

Tell her what I told mine: the problem is that supply costs too much!

Mine is now in therapy..........and I spent my money on COG instead of PhD. Life is good when sanity is optional equipment.

set up would be a great feature . preferably attacking armies would enter in direction of attack. would be a nice touch!![;)]

I think ericbabe had said he might look into having supplies enter at the reinforcement hexes to avoid that kind of situation.

If during a detailed tactical battle you end a movement of your tropps in a city hex, then they recover some supply. So, even if you don't have supply wagons, you can still receive supplies during the battle. This is very valuable if you are defending in a battle with no wagons. You can just set up a position near a city and rotate your units off the front lines and into the city to keep them supplied. It isn't perfect and will never replace the wagons but at least it is an alternative to no supply at all..

By the way, what is the obsession of enemy troops with bastions and strongholds? I was fighting a Spanish army and they send about 40.000 troops including cavalry to some stronghold where there about 4.000 militia from me. I deployed my army but no..there were bussy getting some totally unimportant thingie. I felt basicly pretty stupid. It was as they were saying: Sorry senor first we have to deal with these and then we fight you. Needless to say I attacked from behind and slaughtered them.
