If I had to make a guess, I'd have said a F-5? Thot also a F-104, but I'd be -really- surprised to see one of those things sitting anywhere besides a museum. What's the 2nd plane to the lower left of the F-14s? Maybe an F-18? There are also at least 5 other aircraft in that pic, to the right, in the "parking spaces".

What's that next to the Tomcats? The short stubby wings and long fuselage makes it look like an F-104...

The Navy used F-104's to simulate MiG's at the TopGun school at Miramar...which is closed now, I think. They do indeed look like F104's

Edit:...you are right F-5's not F-104's

My guess (and it is only that) is a Harrier.

The last plane in the row looks like a Prowler to me. It seems to fat to be a Hornet...

Wow..that Google thing is amazing. Try looking up your own neighborhood. For mine the area image is degraded..that is either a big coincidence or Google knwos where I live.

It's not Google who knows where you live...

They moved Top Gun to Fallon...the airspace over Miramar was getting too congested I think.

Looks like an F-5 next to the tomcats, and an F-4 with the wings folded up.

Is it genuinely regarded as the Worlds best natural harbour?

At least one of the best. It's a spacious and well-protected anchorage. Few other bays big enough to hold a large number of ships are equally well-protected against waves and wind. Rabaul would be another example I think, but there are no volcanoes on the pic above, and it really doesn't look like PH or Tokyo Bay - so I settled for CRB. Admittedly I verified my hunch with google before posting... My very first thought when I saw the pic was 'upside down of San Francisco Bay - no wait, no Golden Gate Bridge - stupid me' [:D].

Search Text: Cam Ranh, Vietnam

Wikipedia: Cam Ranh Bay

Even there they say:
Cam Ranh Bay is a deep-water seaport in Vietnam. An inlet of the South China Sea situated on the southeastern coast of Vietnam, between Phan Rang and Nha Trang, it is often considered one of the finest such seaports in the world.

Regarding Rabaul you can have a look in another thread of mine from a few days ago: How about a new map?

How's this for a natural harbor? This was major Austrian port in pre-WW1 period, with one of the largest Mediterranean shipyards (on the island to the right side of bay, connected by the causeway).

Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage.
